I did a search and could not believe that this topic has not been discussed.Anyhow,I am going to buy a GPS for Rebel Grey and so far I think the TomTom One would be the most bang for my buck.I can find them for about $270-300 at several different sites.Susie and I like to roam around this part of the country looking for antique stores and yard sales to support our collectables habit.Unfortunatly, many of the road signs around here become targets for rednecks with shotguns. They are sometimes unreadable as to what State or County road we might be on.What do y'all think about the GPS units you have now or what kind are you thinking about buying? Thanks in advance for any input on this topic,HB.

Garmin C320...love it! It has bailed us out many times especially when getting new routes to get around huge traffic backups.

We looked at the Garmin Nuvi 680 today. Very expensive ($900.00), but nice. And, alot cheaper in the long run than ordering Onstar and paying the monthly fees.

I have whatever came in our Buick Rainier. Some GM sponsored thing. It's OK, but the one that came out in the next year's model is better in that it has a touch screen.
Our poor HHR is lost without one.
Actually these GPS wonders are now tha most stolen "smash and grab" item taken from cars. People always get lazy and leave them on their dash boards, etc.
My police friends tell me this. But wouldn't a stolen GPS be easy to find just by its nature?

You don't even need to have it on your dash...scumbags will see either the cradle or the tell-tale ring mark that is left on your windshield and will take a chance that you have it in your glove box etc.

Happened to a co-workers wife at a place.....grrrrrrrrrrr...hate vermin like that. Saw the cradle, tried to pop the lock on her door..messed that up and just decided to smash her window. One day perps like that will steal from the wrong car and they may have an up an close encounter with Herr Glock :guns:

I prefer the road atlas or Mapquest online over any navigation system in the car. You should stop anyway to read it so why not just pull out the atlas? Sorry, but I wouldn't trust those ones that give directions. What happens when a street is blocked due to construction? My atlas also gives projected dates of road construction which is very helpful when you're traveling to a new location. Once I purchased an atlas of only Florida which had a large map of almost every city in the state. It was really great. But now I need a new one and can't find them anymore.

I used to think that also until I actually used one. While nothing is perfect it has done a more than a well enough job in getting me from point A to point B with no problem. For the most part you don't need to look at it all the time..it will tell you when to turn.

Blues- If you don't want to spend a whole lot of cash, take a look at the Garmin C320. I have seen them as low as 199 online. The difference between the C320 and the C330 is that the 320 uses an SD card to load your maps on and the 330 and 340 use a built in hard drive...to me that is one more thing to break and die. The 340 will say street names though.

I'm pretty sure all 3 are now discontinued for newer models but if you don't want to invest a whole bunch of money into your first GPS the C320 is a great choice. I will say though that sometimes in big cities it is tough to get a signal....similar to when you can't get a clean XM signal...tall buildings can mess with it

Thanks all for some good "food for thought".I will keep looking at what is available on line(I don't like paying sales tax)and who knows, maybe one of the manufacturers or dealers will offer a rebate that will be too good to resist.;) HB

Garmin C330. I loooove it. I never have to worry about getting lost anymore (us guys don't stop and ask directions). My wife was not a believer until it showed us a better route to a friend's house who lived out of town. She is now a believer. By the way, I named my "Lulu".

Why is it most men won't ask for directions, and if they do...they look at the wife and say ..... do you remember what they said? And I named mine "Mother"

Just a "FYI" purchased the GPS at Best Buys for 349.99 (it rang up 346.01) and we were looking around the net and found the same GPS a "Wally World" for 269.54...Sooo I printed out the page and went to BB and got a nice refund...so more money for me to spend
And we are having so much fun playing with the GPS.... can't believe we didn't have one before!

Yeah, I got my Garmin StreetPilot c530 for $350 from Amazon and I like it a lot. It has plusses over my hubby's indash unit and his has plusses over mine. I love the way I can rip mine off the mount and play with it while he is driving whereas you can't override the in-motion menu on his. What I do miss though, is being able to find a cursor point on the map and hit ENTER on his --- is asks, "calculate new route to cursor point?" Boy that's cool.
