View Full Version : Socal G2G Ricky&Ronnies May19th
mitzkity 04-15-2007, 01:21 AM The Spring has begun and the CAR SEASON will be in full swing soon. And of course, the South Pacific region has the longest season for it.
Who's up for a lunch at Ricky and Ronnies in Torrance, CA? Do we have enough members to make a big showing, or do we try it informally - Have you been there?

hnewagn 04-15-2007, 10:39 AM Group z my 240Z car club had our monthly meetings there for about a year great place. Give me the date and I will be there.
ivtech 04-16-2007, 12:23 AM Sounds good for me.
1KingChuck 04-16-2007, 11:00 PM My girl lives close by, Im up for it. We go to bike nite there sometimes
JT's HHR 04-17-2007, 11:13 AM Sounds like fun. Would we get "special parking" also
mitzkity 04-17-2007, 03:43 PM Okay - it is set for 11AM May 19th. As it stands, we will be able to set aside an area to park all our cars together, and we will have the patio just for us. There is a clubhouse, which I can request, but only after we have a signup of 35 people. The clubhouse is very nice! I'd love to go for it if we grow large enough.
So I will keep the roster up to date on the rear end of this thread and just post as soon as you know you're coming. Ricky and Ronnies has excellent food too, but just getting together will be really great. BTW, this is a very family-oriented place and children are welcome. If we get the clubhouse I can pop the "CARS" or "Happy Feet" in and keep them occupied, there are booths and table in our own rec room - you can even bring your own music!
mitzkity 04-21-2007, 12:47 PM BUMP! Sound off, if you're interested. Looks like we are going to get the great UNVEILING of JT's outstanding creation!!

See ya down the road

hnewagn 04-22-2007, 08:46 PM I will be doing something with my son until 12 noon, but i will come right after. How long are you planning on meeting?
mitzkity 04-23-2007, 10:11 PM I think we can be flexible - Knowing get togethers, 11-2or3 would probably be peak time. We could always move the times a bit, too.
hnewagn 04-23-2007, 10:24 PM Thanks I will be there did you go to a Magnum meet this one of my Friends said that a HHR with a wood kit was there.
mitzkity 04-24-2007, 03:27 PM That's a big huge yes, that was me! The LXFORUMS.COM is humongous and socal group is HYPER active. I even put one of their forum logos on my car, with the word "MASCOT" underneath. In fact, they will be at Ricky and Ronnies on the 12th, so that'll be 2 Saturdays in a row for me.
The LX group had a meetngreet last Saturday at Angelos in Anaheim, and I put Mitzkity right out front. I met 2 HHR owners there, and one was a roller skating car hop. I hope she gets on here. The other is one of our new members, UMA. UMA will be joining us at Ricky and Ronnies.

Oh please do -- you gotta swing by and join us...looks like IVTECH is out and I would love to have more cars coming.
SindyDix 05-12-2007, 11:43 AM I traded gatherings.....this one is closer to home..... Casper will drive Mr. B and I there.
mitzkity 05-13-2007, 03:39 AM Talk about showing support - UMA showed up at Ricky and Ronnie's today for my mopar Meet and Greet!!! Gotta love a car crazy person. Great news, Sindy! Will be nice to see everyone.
They have set aside an enclosed patio area for our group to eat together, so maybe we could eat around 12 and then head back to the cars. The first 10 cars will have a place IN THE RING out front in a protected setting just right for photos. And if we squeeze, maybe 12...but someone needs to help us park real tight.
AND - ladies and gentlemen, charge your batteries, because I think the DRAGON'S LAIR CAR will be here!!!

I'm getting eager for tomorrow. We'll be car washing tonight!!
I was asked to identify myself/car since it's a big diner and a huge parking lot. Kinda squeamish about that, but here goes.

1HotHHR 05-18-2007, 12:58 PM Ya all have a GREAT time, wish I could be there. Its going to be a lot of fun.
I think I'll wax Harvey just to calm him down. Take lotz of pics and show'm off real soon. Mitzkity, where oh where are the white walls?

mitzkity 05-18-2007, 01:10 PM Photos - don't worry, you'll get photos! Haven't you noticed, I'm the photo posting queen around here?
Bud, I know, I could just kick myself that I didn't check with the goings-ons of the Modesto group first. Ohhhhh, you noticed. That was 2 days before we went to get the wheels put on.
HHRnoPT 05-19-2007, 12:40 AM Looks like it's going to a very busy place on Saturday, may be hard to park at the diner since there is a car show taking place from 10:00 to 3:00 and show cars need to in place by 9:00. Should be some cool cars to look at.

No worries -- we have an area that is completely set aside for us, it's blocked off and I think we will all be able to fit in there. It's directly in the path of the front door to the restaurant so those car show peeps will have to trip over us to get inside - HAHAHA. However, getting the cars through the little gate into our area may take a few drive-throughs if it's that crowded.
catzcradle 05-19-2007, 09:14 PM Photo time! (If I got any info wrong, please PM me or Mitz and I'll update the gallery pages. HNEWAGN, sorry I didn't get more pix of your nice ride, I'm just an amature ;)
This was a good turn out with a final Tally of 9 HHR's making it, with Black and left handers seeming to dominate the crowd. We had the small private parking area right in front, and we had a number of people from the car show come over and ask questions, with plenty of people talking about the HHR's that were right at the door to the restaraunt. Making the longest travel was Mrjuma from Las Vegas, though he'll be pounding down some strawberries tomorrow! Full group that made it was

mitzkity 05-20-2007, 01:21 AM I've been formatting photos for our G2G and haven't had a chance to thank you folks for your great turn-out and attitudes. 1HotHHR 05-20-2007, 02:18 AM Wow it looks like fun was had by all. If we could only get all that attented this event with the group in Modesto together for DejaVous Rendevous that would be a good size group of HHRs to show off. Looks like a great day.
See ya down the road

R CA HHR 05-20-2007, 02:09 PM Wow That looked like a pretty good turn out and very fun. Is there anyone form my neck of the woods (chico ca. around redding or sacramento areas). I would love to come to a G2G but work usually does not give me enough time to go that far. I am planning a trip to L.A. in the near future, around the newberry , thousand oaks area, I have family there and an hoping to get down that way sometime this summer. :thumb:
Nor-Cal HHR Club 05-20-2007, 02:54 PM  Chico's pretty close to Modesto.

R CA HHR 05-20-2007, 03:06 PM Okay I'm an idiot :red: , didn't realize where it was for a minute.
When and where is the next meet?
mitzkity 05-20-2007, 05:01 PM Okay I'm an idiot :red: , didn't realize where it was for a minute.
When and where is the next meet?
No, you're not an idiot - what you are seeing is 2 meet & greets on the same day in 2 spots, and we're all talking to each other about it. In fact, we're going to try for a merge'n'meet some day - cool, huh?
And yes, Thousand Oaks is sort of in my area. From Anaheim it's about 70 miles, but a butt-ugly drive during traffic (Hwy 5 and 101). Are you going to have some free time while you're there?
ivtech 05-20-2007, 07:37 PM If you come up the 57 to the 210 to the 118 better drive and you drive within 2 blocks of my house off the 210. I am about 20 miles from Simi Valley
mitzkity 05-20-2007, 07:51 PM Coool!
R CA HHR 05-20-2007, 10:49 PM When i finally get to come down I'm putting the HHR in the shop to give it a special touch. It may be suttle( nothing like a full dragon paint job with fangs on the grille,Though I love how that turned out). My mom works down there with a guy that does alot of rebuilding classics and said if I bought parts he would help my do a few things for free on his days off. I'm dyin' to tell all of you what it is but I have promised myself I'd keep it top secret for now.
Oh ya my wife has decided we need to get some lakewood pipes( i believe they are called) and a windshield visor so there is a few more mods coming in the far future.
R CA HHR 05-20-2007, 10:51 PM Oh I forgot! I got some APC anodized mesh to make a lower grille piece, I know this is not the proper place to say that but oh well, i'm excited.:D
liasd 05-20-2007, 11:38 PM Great pics wish I was there to show off the Raider ride but soon I will be back in the west Colorado that is so I might be able to do some of the g2g I use to live in Murrietta and my parents live in Temecula so I will be in Cali a lot on the weekends.
It was so great seeing everyone, I am totally in for the next meet and greet, car show , whatever!! Just let me know...and Btw. Cheri was such a great host, her car is so unique it was worth the drive alone, but, then Sindy shows up in the Casper ride, BC'sHHRs shows up with the fall edition, the black chrome, the different headlamps, just awesome!! Freshone with the sounds, and sweet rims. MrJuma came from Las Vegas in his sweet HHr with the aftermarket air intake. Can't forget the HNEWAGN, with his young son looking to take over the car show world here in a few years. then we have Grumpee who has inspired my other to get an HHR, with the mirror covers, and the bra(she loves the color) LOL. But wants the Woody kit on your car!!! and my fav...Jarredondo, the burgundy ride with the bags, and the sweet sounds. Everyone check them all out, I hope to see them all very soon
courthousedeb 05-21-2007, 12:23 AM Great pics wish I was there to show off the Raider ride but soon I will be back in the west Colorado that is so I might be able to do some of the g2g I use to live in Murrietta and my parents live in Temecula so I will be in Cali a lot on the weekends.
You're gonna take some definite grief with the Raider stuff on your HHR in Broncos country...but I'm sure you may have heard that already.
Nice pics folks...looks like you had a great time.
mitzkity 05-21-2007, 12:36 AM Oh I forgot! I got some APC anodized mesh to make a lower grille piece, I know this is not the proper place to say that but oh well, i'm excited.:D

Temecula, huh? Know where Tom's Farms is? It's a great place for a G2G, ask Sindy Dix and others??
liasd 05-21-2007, 12:41 AM Yes I know but I also went through it in San diego when I was in that area.
mitzkity 05-21-2007, 12:44 AM Well, soCal-ers are great Raiders fans, so you'd be popular around here.
Besides, Tom's Farm is not a once-visit place...it's a once a month place - good breakfast, lunch, cool motorcycles different every time, a little this a little that.... and HHRs just make it better.
liasd 05-21-2007, 12:45 AM Yes I do know where Tom's farm I used to have a pt cruiser and sometimes we would have g2g there.
mrjuma 05-21-2007, 11:10 AM i would like to thank everyone that was at the grathering sat. it was nice meeting people that have the same interest. when you have another meeting, i will do my best to be there. one thing i did learn is, need to find a car wash when i get there and need new audio system. sunday was anoth:D er good day. went to the strawberry festival. filled up on strawberry shortcake, strawberry funnel cake. did i mention i ate alot of strawberry shortcake? by the way, i'm eating strawberries for breakfast. by the time i left ca. i had strawberries, watermelon, cherries, tomato's. what a fun weekend. on my way to torrance i want the speed limit. got 31mpg. on the way home i went 80 to 90mph. it took me 4hrs 3mins to get home from thousand oaks. heres the kicker, got alittle over 33mpg. so, i guess faster the better, the better! again, nice meeting all of you.
mrjuma 05-21-2007, 11:12 AM OPPS!!!! can't type and eat strawberries at the same time: what a fun day!
How could you type after eating all that!!! Just wish i could eat all that and be in your shape, great to meet you, hope to see you again soon
mrjuma 05-22-2007, 12:18 AM where is the closest car wash to the speedway or the book store? i felt bad having the dirtyist hhr in torrance!:(
ivtech 05-22-2007, 01:21 AM There is one on Magnolia west of the book shop my sister uses I'll have to get the address and I believe there is one at Hollywood Way and Riverside Dr.. Hollywood Way is the exit off the 134 for the book store.
ivtech 05-22-2007, 01:43 AM Car Washes near book store
Lakeside Car Wash 1700 W. Riverside Dr., Burbank, CA (south of 134 at Hollywood Way.)
Toluca Lake Car Wash 10515 Magnolia Blvd, N. Hollywood, CA (west of book store)
mrjuma 05-22-2007, 01:09 PM thanks very much. maybe this time my HHR won't look so bad.
your car didn't look bad! Looked great
mitzkity 05-23-2007, 01:46 AM I was just thinking the same thing, Uma, you are SUCH a diplomat, aren't you?? MrJuma, just throw a thing of Meguiar's Quick Detailer in your back seat and some microfiber towels, and you will probably be good to go most times if you've have a wax lately. No one cares if you wipe'her down when you arrive, but we certainly do understand how you'd want to do a real wash when you drive in from such a distance.
being the diplomat probably came from running a car club for close to ten years, Founded Coastline Camaros in the mid eighties, went to shows for years pulling 25-40 strong. It was quite a site seeing 25 camaros pull into a show at the same time. I always had us meet early and come into together. Wish I had the energy to do it now....but the ideas are coming! I am planning on making up business cards that invite people to visit the site so they can just be placed on every car we see...then when they visit they will get into it like I did. we will work on it,
Todd, (Uma)
