It looks nice tucked up in there. Is that a dealership decal on the back of your HHR? If so you should remove it. No dealership gets free advertising on my vehicle!

I'm doing that today. Been a while since It hadn't rained. I love my dealership, but not enough to keep a nasty looking sticker on the back.

It looks very similar to the stock pice just a bit more ovalish. But It does look good. I too removed my dealer's stick off the day I bought it. I hear you loud and clear Captain.

I can't believe that a dealer stuck his decal on your paint. Mine just put on a license plate frame. My neighbor was manager there and introduced me to everybody, and they have really taken care of me, so when I switched frames, I put a small dealer sticker on my back window. But it is tasteful (silver letters on black).

I remember when dealers used to attach their emblems with mounting holes right into the body!

I told them not to put one on or I would be upset. The dealer was cool about it of course, the customer is always right. They put plate covers on but I stoped on the way home and took care of that.

Where did you get the Flowmaster from? I can not find any shop that has one that will fit an HHR. Will the Colbalt work?

I got a sound clip finally. I had to take it with my digital camera so the sound quality isn't amazing. The wind is still bad so I opened the rear and set the camera close to the edge where the wind couldnt hit it.

I swear it doesn't. It does sound bad when I just rev it up though. When I'm actually driving it sounds WAY better. Not sure what changes, but it does. I'm gonna try and get a better soundclip whenever i get a chance. And wheelsee it cost me 100 for the flowmaster and installation and 40 for the tip.

I'm sure it probably does sound better in person. :) I would love to hear a better sound clip when you get the chance.

All he did was replace the muffler people. Go to any muffler shop and they can put one on. It's not a kit nor is it vehicle specific.

All I did was replace the muffler and add a tip as howdy said. Not sure what the part # was. It cost me 140 total. (40 of it was the tip)

Do you get any additional HP with the new muffler?

adamlowery
02-06-2006, 10:52 AM
I don't think I'd really get any extra hp unless the stock muffler was really restrictive. I drove it really heavy before they put it on and did the same afterwards and I couldn't tell a difference. But I really didn't do it for a hp boost. Thats what a cat back system is for.

Glad you're happy with it. I personally won't run a flowmater on anything, they are one of the worst flowing mufflers out there and I've seen several rust through here in AZ, so I can only imagine what it would be like in a place where it actually rains. But if you're happy with it, guess thats all that matters.

I put flowmasters on a 350 Chevy El Camino and took them off the next week.
At the time I was managing a speed shop. Worst performance I ever had with that engine.

If you're happy - that's all that matters though. :thumb:

I saw a dyno chart for several differnt cars where they put a flowmater on then a differnt cat back set-up in every test the flowmaster was the worst, plus I personally hate the sound.

I had a flowmaster on my 93 Saturn. Got it on sale-it was supposed to be for a Mustang. I loved the sound-it gave the 4 banger a low, mellow rumble and got loud when I put my foot in it. BUT it did rust through after about 4 or 5 years.

Hey-check it out-my Premium tag came on!!

Premium members are the coolest. Each time a member signs up Jonyyb gets to go to mcdonalds on us. that is kinda crappy it rusted that soon. I'd say who cares, but I'm sure I'll have this car in 4 or 5 years. No reason to worry about it until it happens :)

We've had really crappy weather. The past month the roads have been pure ice, and I don't wanna get out there and go crazy in that. :) The wind isnt that bad though and honestly I forgot about it. I don't got work tomorrow. So I'll get one tomorrow.
