Okay, here is another newbie question. I'm sure this has been discussed here before, I just can't find it.
How's the gas mileage with the HHR? My gas mileage currently sucks. I didn't really care what it was when I bought my current car, but I do now.
Thanks.

I'm getting 27.4mpg combined city and highway with lots of hills. I have gotten as high as 29.8 on a long trip with 3 people and luggage.

Wow, that is soooo much better than what I'm getting now.

Check this thread out: Poor Gas Mileage (http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5917&highlight=fuel+mileage). If you do a search for fuel mileage or gas mileage you will find more threads.

What is your current type (car)?
I have a 2.2L, great on gas, City/Highway, avg. 25-30 mpg.
Pretty peppy too.

I currently have a 2004 PT Cruiser. I will be trading that in on the HHR.

the worst we've seen is 22.5 on a full tank of short city runs. typically we're getting 25-27 mixed driving, and on longer freeway trips, we've seen as high as 29-30

Mine is only 2 weeks old, so it's not even close to being broke in and I'm getting 24.3 w/ a mix of city and highway driving(w/ a lead foot also, lol)
so it should get even better after the break in period.

I had an '06 and got 32 mpg on the highway, I traded for an '07 Fall Edition - I am getting about 24 mpg around town and 30 mpg on the highway.

I feel special. My '07 (I bought it right after Christmas) gets about 27 in "normal" driving, and over 33 on the highway with the cruise at 70.

One question everyone: Are your mileage numbers you're posting from the DIC (computer) or are you doing the math manually, after a fill-up?

I did the math on my new HHR and it's 29.5 so far, with only 500 miles on the car. The DIC says it's a lot lower - around 22-25

If we can convert another PT owner to the HHR and welcome to the site also.

My mix of driving to work averages 28 and trips using premium have been averaging 32.2. Not bad for a Deer Slaying HHR..

All figures are per my computer. 2006 1LT, 2.4 automatic. Lowest I've gotten over 100 or so miles is 25 mpg. Averages 26.5 to 28 mpg running the living snot out of it on my daily commute (43 miles of in-town & twisty 2 lane highway). Hit 32 mpg climbing Afton Mountain on I-64 in Virginia, running 75 and fully loaded with gear for a Civil War reenactment. Equal to my late Cavalier and better than Malibu trade-in on mileage, about the same as my old MG's.

Thanks to those who welcomed me to the blog! :thumb:
I installed a K&N air filter element and it seems to have made a small difference on acceleration and I'll keep an eye on the mileage as well!
