Buckled in by the collar? How about a harness instead. We use them with our dalmatians when we take them in the HHR.:thumb:

Thanks for the wake up call, GeeMac! Over the weekend, Eddie got himself a new travel harness for his road trips. It can be attached in two ways.

This is restraint that was being used before.........

Now, this will be the one being used.........

Attached directly to the seatbelt......

Attached around the seatbelt and clipped back to itself.....

Eddie does not look very impressed in that third shot.

I think he would prefer the freedom of the harness clipped to the seatbelt. He loves standing with his front paws on the armrests. But the last shot, he was actually wagging his tail!

It's GREAT, isn't it! My big dogs have them too.

I found another handy thing about them, too. Last week at a get together, we took the harnesses off and attached the separate piece to their short leash inside the car. They can be scary to some people, so we let the ones that want to admire them come forward for licks and pets. Later on we let them out on leash and it made a great transition time to the new location.
