View Full Version : All Gauges Flatlined!!!!
GDZHHR 05-03-2007, 05:39 PM I did a search and didn't find much on this.
The DIC seems to be working fine, but all the gauges do not work at all. Bonnie says they were working fine yesterday. Only thing that has happened is I had the oil changed today. I can't see how that would cause any issues though.
It's raining and I was on my way to work so I haven't has a chance to check the fuses.
Any ideas?
sjssk 05-03-2007, 06:08 PM I had a 73 Nova that I burried the needle and it never came back. I had a good excuse the next time I was pulled over and asked, "Do you know how fast you were driving?"..... and I said, "No, I topped it out and broke the spedo!" . I still got the speeding ticket and an equipment ticket too........ I know this doesn't help you any....just a funny story!
As long as your DIC is working, Bonnie should be happy. :thumb:
Seriously, check the fuses and breakers and don't forget the panel in the console.
The other day I came out from a meeting and found mine completely dead. Not even enough juice to push start the 5-speed. Got a jump and everything has been fine since. Did a voltage test and amp drain test later and everything was fine and has been since. My guess is that the BCM had a brain fart.
Good luck!
GDZHHR 05-04-2007, 02:43 AM I have no idea what was wrong but when I started the car up after work, all seemed fine. I guess something happened resetting the oil life indicator and it needed to be restarted.????????????
GCarp 05-04-2007, 07:14 AM My wife drives a Pontiac Torrent.:steering: Her car went bonkers yesterday (same day as GDZHHR) for no apparent reason. All the lights on the IP were flashing and as she said "every noise that the car could make from the speakers was happening" . Then she fessed up :red:that while sitting at a light she was :breakdanc jammin' :breakdanc to some music and was tapping the brake pedal and must have confused the confuser.   That was at lunch time. After work - all was working again. Guess it needed a rest. Funny it happened on the same day.

A re-boot of sorts! I had this happen once in a 1992 Chrysler Daytona I had. Turned off the car and restarted and all was well. Never happened again after that.
hhrcrafty 05-05-2007, 07:01 PM Well, we got a big coronal mass ejection from the sun this week, so that could've done it...

Possible electro-magnetic interference. Or maybe it was alien activity..the mother ship was in orbit.
eat_world 05-05-2007, 09:06 PM I bet it was RF interference. I see this all on time on appliances, and can't find a reason that it couldn't happen on a car.
GDZHHR 05-05-2007, 09:07 PM Whatever the cause was, I'm just glad they work now.
hhrcrafty 05-06-2007, 03:43 PM Probably just a random gremlin. My old roomate's Mini Cooper would do the same thing, except the car would actually die in the middle of the road.
