View Full Version : June Featured HHR Winner
Quasimotor 05-17-2007, 02:12 PM Name: Jim D.
Location: Tucson, Az
2006 Chevy HHR 1LT
Stock Options: XM radio, Pioneer Premium sound, running boards, roof rack (removed) 16 inch wheels, fog lights, power seat.
Modifications:
Pteazer Stuff:
Cowl hood
Grill & Front Valance
Rear Rollpan & window filler panels
My own mods:
I welded in the factory license plate panel depression in the hatch, and modified the chrome emblem, and pressure switch to still function. Dual exhaust via a Camaro muffler, and Harley Davidson Road King Muffler's and tips. Wheel Vintique Wheels, with painted centers, and 1949 Chevy hubcaps painted to match. Leather wrapped steering wheel with radio controls and shifter added (mine was base trim). Rear shaved door kit (still finishing that) with keyless entry. Fog lights are Harley Davidson blue dot Passing lamps. I did all the mechanical and repair work myself. Custom Paint by Jay Moody.
Future plans: New exhaust tips (Rhinehart eagle beak's) and a propane injection system for the tips. 7" LCD flip up screen where the dash compartment is (for my IPOD and DVD's). Air Suspension, and underbody LED lighting. Blue dot's in the tailights, maybe some chrome bezels etc.
Other info: This car was a total with 2300 miles on it when I got it, and I started this project before... chevy decided to make a factory panel

No interior shots yet, I still need to detail after the paint and polish first.
Interior is stock however, with the exception of the leather wrapped wheel, and shifter.
Thanks

Thanks...
To be honest it's kinda weird to nominate your own rig though.
No offence to the owners here, but I run a MC forum with about 8000 members, and we nominate each other for Bike of the Month. This way you don't have to feel icky for tooting your own horn...?
Also I saw some hubub about the current winner being sponsored. I guess I fall into that category too? Well I am kinda reverse sponsored, I wanted the car, so I became a dealer for the parts, and put the corp name on it so I could say it was legitimate business expense.
I did build it with my own two hands, but if anyone has an issue with the company name/sponsored thing I will withdrawl. To me, a panel delivery in the old days was business vehicle anyhow. People didn't buy them new to customize so to speak, and I felt the logo kinda helps with the era feel.

Dont worry about nothing put your car up and lets get a 3rd AZ winner :one:
mitzkity 05-17-2007, 09:19 PM No issue from me - just a lot of admiration and a big grin for that car of yours. I am so GONE over it!!
R CA HHR 05-19-2007, 01:01 PM Sometimes its good to toot your own horn! We are all HHR lovers and being sponsored or sponsoring yourself doesn't matter. Its all about the car and what can be done to it to make it yours.
You've done an awesome job and I'll be coming over this weekend so we can redo my Bumper/Grille :D J/K
Good luck to you and your pre-panel, panel! :thumb:
MrVette 05-19-2007, 01:52 PM Very nice panel Jim!! :thumb:
I wouldn't worry about the "hubub", you built it yourself and should be proud of what you've done here! Looks like a winner to me! :one:

Quasimotor 05-22-2007, 12:22 PM Folks I got my panel delivery interior panels the other day, I have the rears in, and once I finish getting the shaved door kit installed I will put the rear door inner panels on as well. I'll post more pics as I am getting all the dust and polish out of the jams, and getting the interior cleaned up.

First............CONGRATULATIONS:bow: ...............on the win (and as said by D, another Arizona win:thumb: ).
Regarding your statement about self nomination:red: .....you drive to, and enter your car, in car shows, possibly to win a trophy or SOMETHING. That, in a way, is self nomination. This is the same thing.....but you ONLY win the overwhelming recognition of the membership. ;)
Hope to meet you one of these days.
