Phantom06HHR 10-03-2005, 06:04 PM as stated, tire rack already has them up as a direct fit- and look at the tire size recommended-the exact size i stated in the last post on the first 20" wheel thread!

SIHHR 10-05-2005, 04:46 PM I have 2LT with the crome 17 inch rims how big can I go up too?
Phantom06HHR 10-06-2005, 10:14 AM 225/30r-20, 225/35r-19, 225/40r-18 are the recommended sizes rim width i think is 7.5-8" i think i read somewhere the 8.5" wheels will not clear the front struts w/o having rim sticking out from the fender wells
badassHHR 12-05-2005, 11:34 PM My pics are posted in the gallery. 20 x 8". 245/30/20 nittos. No clearance problems and still a decent ride. Plus, a whole lot of looks !! I love it!!
snksknr94 12-06-2005, 12:32 AM Yeah but they only carry like 2 in a 20, and they are both ugly as shit.
badassHHR 12-12-2005, 03:30 PM You are correct. The ones available in 5 x 110 are not all that great looking. Thats why I went the custom fitted route.
captain howdy 12-12-2005, 03:56 PM But they are Ziniks so I have hopes of them releasing the Z9 Sabini with a 5-110 bolt pattern and correct offset. I think that rim would look nice on the HHR. I was thinking of putting them on my Mustang before I sold it.
flyhhr 02-14-2006, 06:29 PM you can do a 20''x7 1/2 with a 40mm off set i am doing a set of 20'' with a different off set.
txsman2930 02-14-2006, 06:38 PM actually the website makes all the wheels look like crap. I would rather go to a wheel shop and see how the rims look on my car in real time.

1. Is your hhr lowered?
2.Have you seen american racing wheels style 373s they may be my pick. they are avalable in 20s.
3. If your hhr is lowered, the wheels seem small looking. i'm hoping for a larger tire size to fill the well.
4. More wheels are comming soon. thanks to SEMA.
thanks for any info.
erf2u 02-16-2006, 03:12 PM I actually went to a 18x8.5 5x110 with a 34mm offset. See my post for pics.

These were Foose Nitrous. Got a really great deal too. :thumb:
I do not have any clearance problems whatsoever. At least I hope there will not be any performance or handling issues...
TXLeXTC 02-16-2006, 03:45 PM My understanding was going bigger (total circumfrance including tire) would jack with not only the spedo (which is livable) but also the tranny, being electronically programmed. The info I received (from a wheel shop) was that you wouldnt see any initial problems, but the stress you would be putting on the tranny would show up at about 30k.
If you *do* go bigger, make sure to retain your old wheels and tires, and put them back on EVERY time you take the car to the dealer for service, else warantee go bye bye!
If someone has solid insight into this, please share. My dang wheels are backoredred 6 mos, and have to pick new ones out.
FYI Konig makes a number of nice wheels that will fit.

Does this also pertain to the manual trans (5-speed)??

I didnt ask, but I would think not, since you are controlling the shift points. There are other stress factors with going to a different size wheel, and the warranty issue still applies.
I would be more concerned with suspension issues than tranny issues in a stick. Coming from someone who drove lowered and/or custom wheeled cars for more than 10 years, I know the pains it can cause on your tires and suspension (the pains on the tires are usually a byproduct of the suspension issues.) The biggest thing to watch out for is camber changes when you change a wheel size (diameter or offset). But there is a whole multitude of issues you can run into with wheel changes regarding your suspension, esp on a FWD vehicle.
If you lower it, you will have clearance issues in the rear!
Mine are 18 x 8 w/40 offset and also 235/40-18. The tire size is almost a perfect match for dia.
Springs are Gold-Line.
You will need to have the rear fenders rolled for clearance. Check out how far the lip goes inward and you'll see.

CLEARANCE ISSUES MAY BE WITH THE OFFSET. MANY PEOPLE ARE LOWERING AND PUTTING 20s ON WITHOUT PROBLEMS. A CREDITABLE WHEEL SUPPLIER CAN HELP WITH THIS.
With the stock offset being 42 mm, a 2 mm difference on mine is very small. The problem arises with the wider tread width on mine.
The OP stated a 35 mm offset. That puts any tire out 7 mm from stock.
Chevy didn't leave much room to play with on the HHR.
flyhhr 02-19-2006, 12:20 AM a 20x8.5 will fit with a 42'' off set will work you need a 245/30/20 and you will be fine just to let you know
