Any other Western NY members other than us? NY HHR 03-08-2006, 10:10 AM  Captain Howdy....I'm here is the Southern Tier - Elmira to be exact. I get to Rochester quite a bit on business. Desert Coyote 07-27-2006, 10:45 AM Tonawanda. Dark Dreamz 07-27-2006, 12:56 PM Captain you got something in the works on putting togeather a meet? if so I will drive from Albany area to do this. I still wanna do a Lake George run wit a few of us. Let me know whats up. captain howdy 07-27-2006, 01:11 PM I was just thinking the same thing myself. For some reason it seems like us northeast people don't want to meet up? Anytime we seem to show interest for some reason it falls apart. Albany would be cool or a weekend at Lake George. It seems like we have more New Yorkers now so maybe we can follow through this time. Dark Dreamz 07-27-2006, 01:19 PM Yeah I agree. I saw a orange HHR runnin around near me as soon as i got time and i see him again i am gonna talk with him and get him on here. He beeps and waves its cool. So maybe we can get him into a meet with a few of us. I am not the best at putting meets up. Heck i am happy to just have every one meet up in Albany and run to my house for a BBQ and swimmin in my pool. Putting to geather a weekend thing in Lake George would be awsome but hard to do. Some people dont like to camp but there are ALOT of hotels and cabins around. Lets get this thing going lol Desert Coyote 07-28-2006, 09:21 AM Just as a suggestion ... I like the idea of getting together, but because of a prohibitive work schedule I most likely wouldn't be able to attend. But as a possibility for future years ... My wife works at GM Tonawanda Powertrain as an engineer. Every year around the end of July they hold a car show on the plant's front door. Seeing as how every HHR engine originates from this plant, maybe the WNY/Northern Pennsylvania crowd could crash this show one of these years? I mean, I know it would probably mean a lot to the guys working there to see a fleet of their products returning to the spawning grounds. This idea was tried about a month back when a Corvair club toured the plant (the Corvair engines were built there, and the club guys viewed the plant as being just short of Mecca.). Probably wouldn't be able to do it this year, as the show is tomorrow ... but maybe in the future? captain howdy 07-28-2006, 09:26 AM Probably wouldn't be able to do it this year, as the show is tomorrow ... but maybe in the future? I like the idea. ;) Is it open to all years of cars? Desert Coyote 07-28-2006, 10:06 AM Best of my knowledge, it's open to all years, and as I recall there was a judging category for 1990-present. The last time I went was a rainy day but the cars ranged from mid-50's Chevys to an '03 Corvette. The local car dealers also display new model year cars at this show in an expo area. minttbird 07-28-2006, 12:05 PM lockport ny.... no hhr yet i am gona order an 07... none of these damned dealers has one with side airbags... anyway im kinda set on white... or the new blue..,. havent seen it yet... or the golden teal.... Desert Coyote 07-31-2006, 12:25 PM Captain, you have no need to worry about newer cars being at the Tonawanda Powertrain car show ... or for that matter, whether your car is in show condition or not: a lot of folks with older cars came to this year's show and displayed cars that would've been laughed out of some of the bigger car shows, right alongside show darlings. I might also add that an HHR contingent would probably be more than welcome, as this year there was the usual Corvette club as well as some stragglers from that Corvair club I mentioned before. When I get the info on next year's show ... be warned it probably won't be until next May at the earliest ... I'll post it. Oh, and tbird ... if you like the teal, you might have to wait a bit. At the car show there were brochures on the '07 HHR's which stated that the teal color won't be available until mid model year. Firewatcher 07-31-2006, 12:40 PM I don't think it's that nor'easters don't want to meet, I think it's more of a location problem. The Niagra area of New York is like another country to people like me. Although New York borders Mass, I can get to Maine in a lot less time. Heck, I can get to areas of Pennsylvania in less time. See what I mean? I really think the Captain wants to live in Massachusetts anyway..... Chicago 07-31-2006, 02:02 PM Tonawanda is a quick ride over the River. I'm sure there are a lot of Hamilton \ Niagara Region HHR members that could \ would make the run.:thumb: fastsuv 07-31-2006, 03:27 PM I attended the car show this past Saturday at the Tonawanda engine plant. Up until last year, I used to live a few blocks away from the plant. The unique thing about this car show is the engine and transmission assembly demos. They set up a tent outside and assemble and disassemble an engine just like on the line. There's also a guy from the Toledo, Ohio transmission plant doing the same with a transmission. They're pretty knowledgeable about the engines and trannys, so you can ask them questions about it. There's also scale remote control racing, inflatable play eqipment for kids, a band, and other things, all for free. GM Goodwrench brought along the NASCAR race cars for Dale Jr. and Tony Stewart. There was also a blown small-block-chevy-powered drag snowmobile. It looked like a small top-fuel dragster with snowmobile treads in the back and skis in the front. If it were within a reasonable driving distance, I would definitely be interested in a get-together. Steve giant96 08-07-2006, 01:26 AM Tonawanda here too..right near Blvd mall....we should all get together sometime at TGI Fridays! glenngeb 08-07-2006, 09:44 AM Just picked up a 2006 LT! on Saturday after wanting one for some time. Would be interested in a local club/meet on occasion Glenn captain howdy 08-07-2006, 10:10 AM Just picked up a 2006 LT! on Saturday after wanting one for some time. I definitely would be interested in a get-together with other local HHR owners. Steve minttbird 08-09-2006, 12:00 AM yea i work in the same area... may have an hhr soon... Desert Coyote 08-11-2006, 08:23 AM I happen to live about ... oh, ten minutes away from the Blvd mall. If y'all want a get-together, set a date and I'll try to be there.:thumb: glenngeb 08-11-2006, 09:25 AM If it's a Friday night or weekend I may be able to attend from Rochester. Thought about trying to set something up for Batavia, for us western NYer's captain howdy 08-11-2006, 09:32 AM Is there anything in Batavia? That seems like farm land to me but I could be wrong. Once I leave the surrounding areas of Rochester I'm lost until I hit Buffalo or Syracuse. It all seems like farm land in between to me. glenngeb 08-11-2006, 11:44 AM Batavia is actually a small city with quite a bit of stuff. Not a bad ride for either Buffal or Rochester HHR's. There's a couple of small malls ot Tulleys for some food, to name a few godsick 09-18-2006, 11:08 PM Howdy I'm in the buffalo area. I'd be interested if there was a wny meeting. Desert Coyote 11-24-2006, 03:44 PM Lots of us around this area, I think, including my neighbor a half-block away. Probably, unless someone picks a time that agrees with the majority of schedules, we might be waiting until the GM Powertrain car show next July for a g2g. Unless anyone wants to get together before Christmas ... ? Z-Man 11-24-2006, 04:02 PM Yeah I agree.
