I think your main problem will be the offset. The HHR is 42, I seem to remember the Solstice being over 50.

anyone out there know if the 245/45/18 tire size will fit the HHR? I found other threads that mention the use of spacers but will this tire size work?

With a 1/4 inch spacer on the front for clearance and P225 45 18 tires they will fit. I have this set up on my HHR and have had no problems. Some others on the forum have also put in longer wheel studs, but I did not. I have and LS version and some say they came with longer wheel studs.:D

You can NOT run the 245/45 R18's, they are way too tall and will not fit. I am running a 225/45 R18 on mine. I had to use 1/4" spacers to avoid rubbing issues on the front ( I used the 1/4" spacers on all 4 wheels), I also bought a set of E/T (Extended Tip) lug nuts just to make sure I had enough thread to bite onto with the factory studs.

I've got 235/40/18's on my SS/SC wheels and I've not had any issues with rubbing or the like, we shall see if a drop creates any though because I'll be ordering springs friday

Wow, everybody wants bigger tires and Im the lone one goin for 15's. I want the better ride, I am so tired of the rough ride of these rubber band low profile tires.

The 235/40 18 is a little shorter that the 225/45 R18. The problemis not width, but height. If you look above your front tire, you will see the botton of the strut plate. That is the main problem. It's also in the rear with the splash shield, but that can be trimmed.

245/40/18 will work, I'm using aftermarket wheels for a solstice/sky with that size tire and spacers, works fine for me.
