View Full Version : REVISED ANTENNA BEZELS arriving next week @ Race and Street
maggiea 06-27-2007, 07:03 PM I just want to let you know that the NEW REVISED ANTENNA BEZELS will be in my hands next week. Anyone that purchased a bezel from Race and Street will be receiving a new one. (Except for the people that took a store credit and keep the bezel that did not fit properly)
Once again , I do apologize for the delay in getting these. Autotecnica is 100% sure this will be the fit that is pictured. It will fit snug down to your paint. There WILL NOT be a gap where the black rubber shows.
Also please remember to always check our website before purchasing. I try to keep my prices below the competition. I love price wars. There are alot of new items coming out. If you see something you want that is not on my site please email me.
CHEERS,

Harpozep 06-27-2007, 09:50 PM I Just received my taillight trim , some marker chrome, and chrome door handles. Very prompt delivery and the items look to be of great quality. That was my first purchase and after seeing this post as well, it will not be my last!
It is great to have such a caring vendor:thumb:
Not that others weren't aren't, etc. Just good to see a company do customer service and perform it well:one:

Thanks for the update!!! Sounds like good news!!! :thumb:
I'll be placing my order...
Since I mentioned this before, thought I'd again bring up this product idea/suggestion that I'd LOVE to see designed by Autotecnica...
If you have any connections with their design team and owners... How about a chrome finished 3M attached overlay for the front and rear Chevy bowtie on the front and back of the HHR... I guarantee you'll have no trouble selling the heck out of those to cover the gold plastic bowties in the factory HHRs...

I second Big Kahuna's idea! You mean something that would cover the entire bowtie, right? Cover all of the gold & be able to be applied using an attached adhesive...I am in for one of these too, that is a great idea!:thumb:
ymerej_mortsdnil 06-29-2007, 12:23 AM no one else has any thoughts on Big Kahuna's idea?!?

This thread ain't about his idea. It's Maggie doing a great job as a supporting vendor announcing the new bezels.

That may be true, although these revised bezels have been due for a LONG TIME.
Sorry I feel this way, but in this world of iPHONEs I may be a little impatient.
I just thought Big Kahuna had a GREAT idea & was wondering if anyone else agreed.
MY BAD.:red:
GDZHHR 06-29-2007, 12:38 AM Due you have a clue how long it takes to bring something to market?!
If you like his idea then start a thread, don't start a hi-jack of a vendors thread!
Sorry about MY hijack Maggie.

WOW!!!
I had no idea that my little additional suggestion for a possible product idea would cause this much of a problem.
No need to be upset at Jeremy (ymerej_mortsdnil)... he was just commenting on my comment...
I was just thanking Maggie for the good news and commenting I'll be placing my order for one of the new Chrome Bezels as well.
I've known Maggie and her Race and Street staff from years back (way before the HHR was even a thought) and have purchased a number of excellent quality products from them over the years. Her and her staff have even travelled 1/2 way across the US to vendor a couple of our "other" car shows here in St. Louis and always provides TOP NOTCH SERVICE and listen to ideas from their customers.
Since Maggie mentioned at the end of her post, she was wanting to hear from us of other products we'd like to see, I thought I could mention the suggestion of a chrome overlay for the HHR bowties. I thought maybe Maggie and staff could plant a "seed" idea to some of the design teams they know.
Maggie and staff have a lot of connections with product designers and figured it would be a help to her business as well with a quality product idea to replace all the non-fitting vinyl overlays.
If my post was considered "hijacking", I'd be happy to delete it. :(
Sorry...
...and thanks again for the update Maggie... :thumb:
Big Kahuna 06-29-2007, 12:51 PM Placed my order today...

That's weird. I figured the antenna would hold it in place even if the adhesive didn't.
shaginwgn 07-03-2007, 11:42 AM I have a chrome stubby antenna. It slid off and hit sunroof(no damage) was going around 70mph. Luckily didn't hit the cars behind me. I also used a adhesive promoter.
ymerej_mortsdnil 07-03-2007, 06:05 PM Just placed my order!:thumb:
Big Kahuna 07-03-2007, 06:36 PM Placed my order and already received confirmation of shipping... :thumb:
Bring on the chrome!!!
ymerej_mortsdnil 07-09-2007, 07:39 PM I received my bezel today (very fast shipping!:thumb: )...I did not install it yet (as the weather is very WET here today), but I did do a 'test fit' and it seems this thing is a PERFECT fit! GREAT customer service and an A+ to Maggie & Race & Street!!!
Big Kahuna 07-09-2007, 07:54 PM Received mine in 48 hours...
Added mine on the Surf Wagon last Friday... Perfect fit!!! :thumb:
EL_REY 07-09-2007, 08:56 PM chea placed my order about 20 mins ago...
one suggestion on the website..on the checkout there should be some kind of encryption during that process..i didnt see anything like the small lock icon that shows on IE explorer
ymerej_mortsdnil 07-10-2007, 10:15 PM O.K., I need help from those of you who have successfully installed one of these!!! 'Cause I can't successfully install mine! I have tried EVERYTHING, I messed around with it for at least 1/2 hour & I can't get the damn thing to stick!!!:cussing:
I cleaned the antenna base THOROUGHLY, applied the 'automotive adhesive promoter' that came with it, and it just keeps popping off every time I let go of it. I went to Auto Zone to buy more of the 3M adhesive promoter, and they don't carry it & have never even heard of it. What am I going to have to do, use super glue?!?
Has anyone else had difficulty installing there's?!? MINE WILL NOT STICK!!!

Jeremy...
I did not use the adhesive promoter. I simply used a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol. I wiped and cleaned the base of the antenna with the rubbing alcohol. It is very important to allow it to completely dry. Made a dry fit to make sure I knew where to install in so it was in place. I then peeled off the 3M tape and had no problem getting it to stick.
If you are having trouble getting the adhesive promoter to get it to stick, I would suggest carefully removing the 3M tape on the inside and replacing it with some new 3M auto mounting tape available in most auto part stores. Get a fresh new start with new tape and try the rubbing alcohol method I used.
Good luck...

Thanks! I'll try using some rubbing alcohol to clean the base...the 3M tape is still VERY sticky on the inside, I think the base of the antenna is just so full of liquid crap that it is causing it not to stick to the base.:(

What kind of liquid crap is on your antenna base?
:barf:
Whatever you do... make sure it is dry... and clean...

The '3M Adhesive Promoter'...it is just disgusting. I am going to use some rubbing alcohol like you suggested & then try sticking it again...I don't know why this simple accessory is becoming so complicated for me!!!:(

Yikes... maybe you applied too much... it definitely won't stick if it's wet...
You may want to remove all the excess Adhesive Promoter.
I've always found that rubbing alcohol works as a great cleaner to remove any excess wax or contaminants to anything before applying 3M tape or decals.
Vivid 07-11-2007, 05:12 AM Will be placing an order for a bezel for Punky as soon as my paycheck hits the bank account at the end of this week.

Thanks a lot for your advice Big Kahuna. I used rubbing alcohol, installed some new 3M mounting tape from Auto Zone and now it is stuck on for good, and BEAUTIFUL! Another minor mod that really ROCKS!
