We got a little bored out here last nite and decided to alleviate our boredom with automobile modification of the lighted kind. We have all seen the "off the shelf" HID kits that just put a HID blub in a stock headlight NOT designed for the HID light. Common stock reflectors lack the sharp cut-offs required for TRUE HID illumination and make for horrendous glare and a danger to traffic around you at nite. I have seen this kits, tried these kits, and SHUNNED these kits. So, without further ado here is a picture of our project.

This image is a REAL Bi-Xenon projector from a high-end automobile with REAL HID bulbs and ballasts. This was a Custom Fabber project that started around 3pm and was finished around 8am today. The only thing left is our custom fiberglass shrouds to hide the projector assembly. To me it kind of resembles the robotic "unfinished" eye of the transformers from the new movie. Headlights are aimed perfectly and STILL have the ability to produce a definitive HIGH and LOW beam. Tonight I will take some nite shots and add them to show the INCEDIBLE light output and even distribution of a TRUE HID retro-fit. :D

EDIT:::: Night shots added!!

Yeah got rid of the amber when we painted the housings. I hated that crap. Orange bulbs still light up GREAT at night and during the day but don't reflect when off since I painted all the chrome parts DSM also.

how labor intensive is that? How long? What level of experience?

I like those!

Awesome work Jason..:bow: ....But you know that you need to put up more info than that (and pics)..:lol: ..(parts used, and how you got the projectors into the housing, shit like that)...BTW I got that CEL (intake problem) figured out that I pm'd you about a couple weeks back....It turned out to be a loose clamp....go figure.....Keep up the good work.......Mark

Due to the nature of this mod I once again DO NOT suggest anyone go through with this sort of mod unless you have a spare set of headlights to play with. It is VERY labor intensive and requires a LOT of custom fabbing, patience, time, and of course..$$$!! The projectors are from any high end auto using HID's. BMW, Lexus, MercBenz, etc... everyone's project would be different as there are several different types of projector housings out there. So a how to is almost a moot point. My headlight would be way different than another member's. My suggestion is just to get a spare set of headlights, take your time, and figure out what you want out of everything. You can find projector assemblies, hid ballasts and blubs all over eBay. Or there is a www.hidplanet.com website if I remember correctly.

I am getting used to the "ultra modern hi-tech" look of the naked projectors though. Its kinda growing on me. Thanks to all and if there are any questions feel free to PM me!

those lights are bad mamma jammas. i couldn't believe how long it took us to complete them, but it was well worth the effort. i love the light output and how you can see absolutely everything on the road. the light is so crisp.

i was so hyped i already started ours and kat already made some covers to hide the projector housings. we'll post pics as soon as we complete them.

ONE MORE POINT FOR KEMIKAL M BALANCE, FOR YET ANOTHER FIRST ON THE HHR :one: and one more for jason for once again being the guinea pig:thumb:

Could you get a pic with the whole front end of the car during the day? It would be nice to see what it looks like altogether. :thumb:
