TomsHHR 07-25-2007, 11:43 PM SOM, the only way to fly!!! courthousedeb 07-25-2007, 11:44 PM I'd have to go with the Sunburst Orange Metallic. TomsHHR 07-25-2007, 11:54 PM Way to go Deb, I knew you would pop in with the best Color... courthousedeb 07-26-2007, 12:32 AM No problem Tom...it's obvious that Chevrolet is sweet on the Sunburst Orange too. Look at all the commercials it stars in. MOTRV8D 07-26-2007, 01:09 AM First choice dammit! http://www.chidesigners.com/hosting/YellowHHRSS.jpg I've been thinking about that ever since the photo leaked. RED OR SOM  I'm torn between Red and SOM. Someone convince me one way or the other. I didn't vote yet. If the Blue Flash Metallic is the same color as Corvette Electron Blue I might be all over that. I loved the SOM when it first came out but now I see them everywhere including the ads. Guess great minds think alike! But really... Isn't Chevy making a mistake in not offering it in yellow? Last I checked more than 2 ppl to 1 either liked it or loved it. Nine ppl hated it but hell you could find nine ppl who hate free money. :cussing: http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5291&highlight=Corvette+Yellow Vivid 07-26-2007, 05:42 AM Either Black or Victory Red. Black Beauty 07-26-2007, 07:20 AM I think Black, although it`s a mother to keep clean, I like it, and it wouldn`t be so obvious to my acquaintances that I`d changed rides. But I do like the Red. mizzouHHR 07-26-2007, 08:23 AM I think any color but sandstone would look great. no offense to sandstone owners, but that color just doesn't say SS to me. Black, Blue Flash or Victory red would be my first choice, followed by SOM and Imperial Blue. solman98 07-26-2007, 09:41 AM Not going to buy one. But IF I was, Victory red. :thumb: Red and performance go hand in hand. :one: MOTRV8D 07-26-2007, 12:00 PM I'm leaning toward Victory Red. What solman said. Red is a great SS color. I never thought I'd own a red car but this might be my first one... :D mitzkity 07-26-2007, 06:15 PM I saw a color block of the new blue and it's so close to Daytona --- I don't feel special any more.... whhhhaaaaaa! MOTRV8D 07-26-2007, 07:18 PM so how do you get to see this color block? mitzkity 07-26-2007, 07:56 PM I got the 08 brochure at the dealership. I tried to photograph them, but it's too variable based on lighting. The darker one is more faithful to it, but not so dead - it has a wonderful glow. http://www.mitzkity.com/images/bluewithflash.jpg http://www.mitzkity.com/images/bluewithoutflash.jpg MOTRV8D 07-26-2007, 08:03 PM thanks for posting that. Kind of hard to show metallic paint from a digital photo... HonestBlues 07-26-2007, 08:17 PM Basic Black MOTRV8D 07-26-2007, 09:53 PM Black would be sweet too. But I've got a black Z28 and have had it for nine years, I'm ready for a car that doesn't look dirty 5 min after you wash it. But when black is clean there's nothing better, that and some nice CHROME wheels! :thumb: Z-Man 07-26-2007, 10:14 PM IBM Is the One for the Z jx3 07-27-2007, 12:21 AM I got the 08 brochure at the dealership. I tried to photograph them, but it's too variable based on lighting. How about a scanned copy....... http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/trip_j/other%20stuff/colorchart.jpg I think I'd pay the extra for the Blue Flash Met. mitzkity 07-27-2007, 01:25 AM Wow, next to your sig photo, they really look different. But those Daytona Blues can look really dark too in the right light. But yeah, that new blue is like the world's sexiest pair of jeans! MOTRV8D 07-27-2007, 01:35 AM Is the BFM really that purplish? That looks like a violet almost. Does the scan look like a dead match to the original? A lot of scans throw red into the image and you have to desatch the red out for it to look right. I know picky picky but we're trying to make a decision here. Oh yeah I voted for Red but I wouldn't be surprised if I like the BFM once I see it in person on a car. jx3 07-27-2007, 01:41 AM Does the scan look like a dead match to the original? What shows on my monitor is a bit "brighter" than looking at the brochure. Maybe if I had a flouresent light in the room the brochure would show brighter as well. MOTRV8D 07-27-2007, 12:51 PM well a monitor image by it's very nature is going to be somewhat brighter than a scan to the naked eye, simply because you're looking at light being transmitted from a screen rather than the reflective light of looking at something on paper. We appreciate the scan though! We'll just have to wait until, what are they saying in the brochure, "late fall 2007" to know what it looks like in daylight. *edit* flourescent light is too green to be accurate. To truly get true color you must look at colors under sunlight, or at least use a color-corrected light source such as the lights they use to view paint chips in a lab. I should know I used to share an office with the color director at Ameritone Paint. misterjensen 07-28-2007, 10:09 AM I'm surprised at how little love is being shown to the Silverstone Metallic... MOTRV8D 07-29-2007, 05:18 PM So Far SOM is tied with Black for 2nd Choice. Come to think of it, SOM does look good. This isn't quite right colorwise but you get the idea. :thumb: http://www.chidesigners.com/hosting/SOMHHR.jpg Goose 07-29-2007, 06:59 PM Blue Goose jx3 07-29-2007, 08:20 PM Blue Blue Flash or Imperial? Goose 07-29-2007, 08:32 PM ooops...Blue Flash...don't like the Imperial Goose MOTRV8D 07-30-2007, 11:49 PM I'm surprised at how little love is being shown to the Silverstone Metallic... well i imagine that if you wanna nice unique ride and you don't want to be seeing an exact duplicate coming up at you every time you turn a corner, an HHR SS in silver would be a good choice. :clappy: misterjensen 08-31-2007, 01:23 PM Moderators, please move this thread to th HHR SS thread. Thanks! misterjensen 09-01-2007, 10:20 AM Thank you :) HHR Man 09-01-2007, 12:35 PM I'm sticking with Orange Sunburst Metallic II MOTRV8D 09-01-2007, 03:10 PM I voted for Victory Red. Now I'm thinking SOM. Who knows what I'll be thinking when I finally order one! infam0uz 09-04-2007, 11:34 AM Only if they offer in white... :( hhr/49suburban 09-04-2007, 12:28 PM I would prefer Black, but I have to vote for Red because the black is too hard to keep looking good. JimDaddyo 09-04-2007, 02:15 PM I love that dark blue...It would look awesome with chrome door handles, grill, beauty bar, and rims. Jim misterjensen 09-04-2007, 04:12 PM I will probably keep my HHR SS for about six years. I'm curious; do you guys think that the sunburst orange metallic is a "six year" color? Is it too trendy and will therefore be a difficult sell in six years? MOTRV8D 09-04-2007, 04:26 PM i thought the same thing. I sure see that color on a lot of vehicles these days. It's a nice color but it may be a bit dated by 2013 or 2104. Geez, that seems WAY off in the future, doesn't it? Red however, does not hold it's value either at resale as red is the color that fades the most in sunlight. If you look at sites like Edmunds for example, red paint always takes a hit in car values, just like black, which shows up wear and scratches more than any other color. SandyBeach 09-04-2007, 05:54 PM I know I see vehicles of all makes and models in orange now. Not many are old so there's no telling if the color will hold up. Remember how bad silver used to fade? I had a dark red car that oxidized really bad but never owned a bright red one. I also never notice that values decreased faster on red cars. Guess I'll have to rethink my choice. I could always buy white then add stripes in any color I like. That would give the true SS look. MOTRV8D 09-04-2007, 06:15 PM I know I see vehicles of all makes and models in orange now. Chevy as of this date has not announced a white HHR SS, so if you wanna buy a white one, it will have to be N/A. 'course you knew that! :D sdbadd44 09-04-2007, 08:48 PM I choose Imperial Blue, but I'd have to see them in person to decide. See the link for a picture of a Cobalt in Blue Flash Metallic - reminds me of the old Dodge Neon blue (blurple). http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19415 Dan's HHR 09-05-2007, 08:26 AM well i think i'll go with sunburst orange.... like mine right now, i LOVE this color you can barely see dust and nice under the sun  misterjensen 09-22-2007, 07:46 PM An interesting article from Yahoo on the popularity rankings of car colors is linked below. I find it interesting that silver ranks the highest across models in the nation, yet it ranked by far the lowest in our little poll here... http://biz.yahoo.com/brn/070914/22589.html?.v=1&.pf=family-home HHR_ROX_CALI 09-22-2007, 09:31 PM Wow, color is SUCH a personal choice. I LOVE white with deep tinted windows. The options for extreme contrast with white is high- black rims, black chrome or paint, black grill, etc... but NOT AVAILABLE on the SS! ouch  Red is always sweet on a fast car- unless it's a corvette. That screams "mid life crisis!" sorry y'all that are rockin red on a sports car! Just IMHO. A lot of my friends hate orange but, as a Chevy guy, I've always loved it. The blues are great- in the right shade- but don't stand out enough for me- unless you two-tone it with another color. And I've seen more than one car here that shows what silver can do. But for me- in spite of the tremendous cleaning issues- BLACK is the bomb. :breakdanc So much potential for contrast and it can easily be two-toned or monochromatic. Subtle or screaming. Looks amazing at night cuz lights don't alter the color. What I really love- most of y'all are happy with the color ya got! Rock on! :thumb: Old Ray 09-23-2007, 12:02 AM Quote HHR_ROX_CALI; “Wow, color is SUCH a personal choice. And BLACK is the bomb” Yep, to both. I had narrowed down my choice to Black, Red, and Blue Flash. Black is nice, and so because I have been agonizing (Virgos are anal) over my SS color choice (There should be only one special color for the SS IMO) I went back and looked at the black SS pictures from the unveiling and saw something that I didn’t observe before. While they where not high resolution pictures, it was noticeable that as the intercooler grille and the main grille are black and on a black car it was a lot of black and some of the detail gets lost. So I have made the decision, its Victory Red (with the black grilles.) By the way, I don’t think there is going to be Imperial Blue. From the GM media web site; For release: Aug. 16, 2007, 12:01 A.M. EDT 2008 HHR SS FAST FACTS Quote: “They include (1)Victory Red, (2)Black, (3)Light Tarnished Silver Metallic, (4)Mystique Blue Flash Metallic and (5)Sunburst Orange II Metallic.” (Numbers in brackets are mine.) misterjensen 09-23-2007, 09:48 AM I find it interesting that silver ranks the highest across models in the nation, yet it ranked by far the lowest in our little poll here... I wonder if it's because people who want an HHR want something "different", and are thereby drawn to "different" colors... SandyBeach 09-23-2007, 10:07 AM High performance cars have been produced in bright and distinct colors for many years. Remember the first Corvettes and T-birds? Chevy should offer the SS in the same colors of their other SS models. That will help distinguish them from other HHRs. misterjensen 09-23-2007, 10:25 AM High performance cars have been produced in bright and distinct colors for many years. Remember the first Corvettes and T-birds? Chevy should offer the SS in the same colors of their other SS models. That will help distinguish them from other HHRs. I'm sure that's what they will do after all of the early adopters buy one. You have to have more "tricks in the bag" to keep reinventing the wheel :) SandyBeach 09-24-2007, 06:34 PM So I need to wait a few years to get YELLOW HHR SS? By then I'll be ready to trade my '06. diffrunt 03-11-2008, 08:30 PM ordered my 2nd HHR today ---- SS blue flash met , XM & auto, delete roof rack & sun roof, wish they,d keep that basket handle in Mexico, no luck.
