Our HHR has rolled up 55,000 trouble free highway miles.

The original Firestone Firehawk 215/50R17 tires are worn down to around 5/32" tread depth remaining. Some useable tread left, however getting near the time to make a switch.

We are considering buying 215/50R17 Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires as replacements.

Anyone have experience with Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires on their HHR?

I don't know much about the difference in tires, but have a friend who has Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on his HHR and couldn't be more pleased. Good grip and perform well in the rain from reports I have seen. Good luck in your search...and that's some great wear on the stock tires too.

I can't give any guidance on your replacement tire but thanks for letting us know the factory ones will have a long life. I usually buy new vehicles and have to replace the tires by 40k, even when I had Michelins.

I had to replace my two front tires at just under 40,000 miles. A lot of the wear was from the front being out of alignment after putting on the Gen I Gold-Lines. It seems that it bottoms out realy hard from just irregularities in the road. The rear tires are still good to go for a little while longer.

They are very highly rated over at the Tire Rack.com fwiw I think someone here has the Goodyear Response on their HHR which is supposed to be a good tire as well

I have Firestone Activas on my old car and was very pleased to see them on my new HHR. My tire dealer assures me that these are not just some cheapies GM threw on the car. They actually picked a good tire. I have the 16 inch size tires.

I have been reading about the replacement tires we have offered to us in the general heading "All Season" which includes the Triple Tread.

While I do not need them yet, it is good to study up. Most reports have the Triple tread on the top of the heap, though some rate the tire noisy or real noisy.

Supposedly they are great in a lot of mixed weather.

Another option in the Goodyear line is the Comfort Tread . It is supposed to be the precursor of the TT, but be quieter.

I had the triple treads on my old Malibu and I'm having a set put on my HHR as I do some travel for work and found then to be very good in the rain and snow. I didn't really find then that noisy but then again i do tend to listen to my music loud. The other thing i like about them is there a great looking tire I can't count the comments I got about them on the Malibu.

Last fall I put a set of Fuzion HRi's on the wifes MPV and have been very happy with them. They even handled very well in the snow when I went to NY this past March.

Total price installed in $671.00, which in my budget is pretty steep, so I may have to go with something cheaper. What price range are the Triple Treads? I got a quote from Big O tires for one of their best rated all season for right at $600, so that may be what I end up with. One thing I don't want to do is get cheap tires that won't perform well and won't last.

i was in the same boat. i found some nice 17" Cobalt SS wheels and needed new rubber. all i could find was 600+ for just tires which blew my mind since i can get brand new 18" Dip Chrome wheels with tires for $940 installed. just cannot justify it.
