Do you think that it's a possible option? Cause if it is, I will wait to order that. Otherwise I am looking to order 2.4 panel in victory red. Decisions..Decisions. What to do???

I doubt it will be an option. I sell cars at a Chevrolet dealership and there's no word or rumor of one. You can always order a 2.2L and do an engine swap. I've been told by our service manager that it would not void the warranty.

Doubtful, at least anytime soon. There was A LOT of information released today with no hint of a panel SS.

You do an engine swap and your original powertrain warranty is out the door.

The other thing too is that panels are (probably) utilized for more hauling than a standard sedan HHR; the HHR SS's are not geared for hauling. The SS's (most likely) won't be able to tow. Yeah, it would look cool, but in essence Chevrolet would be selling a hauler that can't haul (other than hauling ass). That might be a bit of a tough sell.

Maybe later down the road nothing soon, but who know's this was a surpise to us peopl thought that the HHR was not going to get the SS package, I mean look at the Colorado SS that never happend, "yet"

Um, didn't GM go down that road already..........SSR?

I'll be satisfied if you can special order the rear glass delete option, then order two passenger doors or find two panel door from salvage as I want the second row seating. I just got a second job so I can buy one custom ordered ready for delivery in Feb. Deb totally surprised me by telling me if I wanted it I could have it. She's such a LOVE! The way I see it! if you can order it with the rear window delete option then you should be able to order it with the panel doors as well. I mean they are building it with the parts available so what's the big deal? Since it's a custom order shouldn't I be able to custom order what I want? :guns:

thats a great Idea, if you had the cash just get the rear doors off a Panel, then put them on the SS, with the rear window delete option, would cost alot but it would be the frist panel SS.

You do an engine swap and your original powertrain warranty is out the door.

Not so. If it's a crate engine from GM and you have a certified GM mechanic installing it. That's the exact words from our Chevrolet Service Director. He actually approached me and told me to throw in the supercharged engine. You'll also need the beefier transmission or you will void your transmission warranty.

You don't see panels on the street.....I'm thinking that finding them salvage would be nearly impossible.

Actually, the SSR was capable of towing. I think it was the Typhoon/Cyclone that couldn't haul, except for hauling ass.

Custom orders are not exactly that. It's called a build to order. The vehicle must be built along certain guide lines. Just because it fits doesn't mean it's going to happen.

if you cant find one that salvage just see if you can order the doors from the parts guy.....

I agree it would more then likely be hard to find a salvage. You would have to be able to get the doors through the parts department if you wrecked your panel. So that's a good option if I can't build it to order that way, and I can resale the stock doors back to Chevy. Or just hang onto them for a different look now and then.:guns:

That crate motor will have it's own warranty. It will not be the factory powertrain warranty. Two totally different animals.

Just buy a 2.4 2Lt panel and add the SS parts you want. Check the specs. Bumpers, sway bars & grill bolt on, seats are mostlikely a bolt in and badges stick on. Ok, so the HP is the hard part......

Try the parts...
I'm sure they're pretty much interchangeable...

I think the Panel in an SS version is a good idea.

Well I can't see the logic in buying a regular panel & then spending a gazillion dollars in SS parts. So back to the original plan.....2008 red panel with the options I want. This is going to be a work vehicle anyways. If I want to go fast I will pull the 79 TBird out of the garage. I'ts got 460 cubic inches & passes everything but a gas station:lol:

They'll build one, probably an '09! Problem is, like every other SS since '96, that stands for Sticker Shock, not Super Sport!

I was interested in the new panel until I saw it at the 2007 NAIAS in Detroit. The lack of folding rear seats was a deal closer for me.
I understand there are no windows back there, but a two seater isn't practical at all for me right now.

Put two fold down rear seats in the Panel and I might be all over it.

I guess you haven't heard that Chevy is revamping their SS lineup, they have been all this year

Personally the base Trailblazer SS has been one of the best values out of GM in many years at only $32K

I don't think DOT will allow seats in the rear with no windows or exterior door handles (safety).
