Various HHR Sub Installs...

OK, many members have asked for pics of various aftemarket sub installs, so I figured we can post them all in one spot and the mods can make this a sticky. That way they will all be in one easily accessible place.

Post some pics of your aftermarket sub install, and any relavent comments regarding it's operation and functionality.

Lets keep this thread on topic as it will be a well referenced one.

Heres mine. Sorry about the bad pics.

I put in 3 10" M/A subs. They are 800 watts each. I have two PG 1200 watt amps running the subs. I installed a converter and still run the factor amp to the doors. I also have the factory deck. (have the up graded system from factory) I do want to make a box in the spare tire area and have them faceing up, so that I have my cargo room back.

SoCal's Sub...

I've tried a few boxes and finally settled on this Audiobahn 2-10" Bandpass box. Rated at 600-watts, it is driven by a Pioneer 300-watt mono sub amp at 2-ohms. The amp is mounted in the tray above the spare tire carrier and speaker cables run up through the slots towards the front of the rear seat.
This sub puts out plenty of clean bass, and does not distort even at high levels.

Many are concerned about losing cargo capacity with a box such as ths, but I have been able to haul plenty of cargo and still have the box hooked up and playing. Here the HHR is loaded with 10 Progress Sway bars ( I have hauled 12!):

Very happy with this setup, and for those wanting even more bass, this box is available with 2-12's also! Price; very reasonable.

The 2-12's box is HERE

The 2-10's box I have is HERE.

The sound is amazing and the price - unbelievable. I'm a happy camper.

I went through four 12"s before I found one I like. The 12" is connected all the time but all I have to do is swap the wires to connect the 8" so I can have a little bump if I have to take my box out. I have a mono amp under the tray mounted to a rack that screws down to the spare. The amp is a Bolt FF250.1 250 watt RMS 700 watt max with the CT-1 cooling turbine upgrade. I'll take some pics of the amp rack another time.

My current setup has a single 8" pbx ported sub with a 600-watt dual channel amp. It will change sooner or later. Future plans would be to put two 10's in the spare tire compartment.

My setup isnt finished yet, but I thought I would go ahead and post it anyway. This is the setup I am going to do, but I still need to redo the amp rack, do some carpeting, clean up the wiring, and get the system tuned (after I get the door speakers installed).
