Seems to me this is not a new problem

I have a 08 with 140000km and I'm bringing it in tomorow for what seems to be the same ''CLUNK'' ing noise.

Was just talking about it earlier on.

HHR Fans,
I have a 2009 SS and have had the front bearings replaced under warranty. The steering column has been fixed. One of the front sway bar bushings was broken and replaced and the noise still persists. 44k on the clock. I love the looks of the car and preformance is great but it sounds like its falling apaprt every time it hits a bump!! Grrr

There are only a limited number of items that cause front suspension noise - more diagnostic work is needed to determine what is causing the problem. You might want to check the sway bar links, the other sway bar bushing, and the lower control arm rear bushing. Those three items seem to be the most common issues, and rubber bushings in particular do not seem age well, and can deteriorate over time, as well as over mileage.

I would suspect struts are still ok at that low a mileage, but are still worthy of checking.

My front end clunk was cured with new sway bar bushing and end links. This is a very common problem.

Hope this helps.
