Sway Bar Bushings

I know this topic has been discussed on many threads but I haven't seen anything about other bushings being interchangeable with our HHR's. I searched Ebay for some bushings and only found a couple that were 25mm "and" listed for the 2006 HHR, however if you search "25mm swaybar bushings", you get tons of results. My qustions is this, would any 25mm swaybar bushing fit the HHR? If so, we would have tons of options and a huge price range.

25mm would be the inside diameter. The outside shape, thickness and width would also need to be the same as the originals. There may be slight differences among all those 25mm choices. Wrong ones wouldn't fit proper and snug.

I used some from energy suspension, working fine after 2 years, very affordable, and greasable.

They are pretty much a standard generic part, the only one I've found on the HHR!

Update!! I found the Energy Suspension 25mm (greaseable) bushings at Autozone for $19.99. They ARE basically a universal part. Anyway, I installed them with no problems in about an hour or so. The left side was a little tricky but there was no reason to drop the chassis or anything like other posts have mentioned. Once you loosen the front bolt on the left side, all you have to do is screw the nut back on the stud about 2 turns and use a small crow bar or something to pry the whole bolt downward. there is a washer that will not allow it to fall completely out but it will drop enough to get the nut off and do any work needed.

Good info man. The bushings are on my to-do-list.

I had a look at az's web site but did not see a 25mm specifically listed. What was the part no. of the set you used?

How they working for you so far? Got rid of that nasty thunking sound?

Convert 25mm to inches and search that size on AZ (American site anyway). 1 inch if my math is working.

Yeah, I had already checked out their website, but didn't see anything specific to 25MM, nor 1". http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...mString=search

They had 16mm, 17.5, 20.5, 22, 32 MM listed

I also noticed that they all mention that they fit a range of diameters - ie all the smaller ones say they fit a .51 to 1 in. Bar dia. - seems kinda odd to me.

A lot of their listings are like that, they confuse a product line with a specific product. You have to go to the store for a lot of thaose things.

Try Energy Suspension 9-5161 or 9.5161 as a part number. If I remember correctly that is the ones I used.
