Torque Specs for Brake Caliper Bolts

Does anyone know what the torque number is for the two bolts for the brake calipers?

Thanks,
Mike

I'm going to bump this up. I just got my EBC rotors and red stuff pads and would like to put them on this weekend.

Anybody know what the torque spec is for the HHR calipers (non-SS)?

Thanks
TomR

Brake caliper guide pin bolts, tighten the bolts to 34 N·m (25 lb ft)

Brake hose-to-brake caliper bolt to the brake caliper, tighten the bolt to 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

TomR00 needed some more brake specs, so I posted this in another thread.

I thought I would post it here too.

Fastener Tightening Specifications
Application Specification--------------------------------------Metric-- English
Brake Caliper Bleeder Valve - Front (J41, JL9, JM4)-----11 N•m-- 97 lb in
Brake Caliper Bleeder Valve - Rear (JL9)------------------11 N•m-- 97 lb in
Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt - Front (J41, JM4)-------------115 N•m-- 85 lb ft
Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt - Front (JL9)-------------------130 N•m-- 96 lb ft
Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt - Rear (JL9)--------------------115 N•m-- 85 lb ft
Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt - Front (J41, JL9, JM4)-----35 N•m-- 26 lb ft
Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt - Rear (JL9)------------------35 N•m-- 26 lb ft
Brake Hose Fitting Bolt - Front and Rear------------------40 N•m-- 30 lb ft

Look on your RPO list in the glove box to determine which spec to use.

ok, I'm going to sound stupid here, But is this something we need to be worried about if we do our own brakes? Is there some Damage that will be done if we do not follow these specifications?

Yes, if you replace the rotors and brake pads, you must torque the mounting bolts of the caliper mount and the caliper to mount bolts properly. If not, you could over torque them and break one off, or under torque them and have them come loose, causing a loss of braking and damage to the caliper and wheel assemblies.

Edit: I just put my EBC rotors and brake pads on last Sat., I'm going to run them a week and go back and recheck the bolt torque again this Sat. just to be on the safe side.

That is one tool I don't have that may come in handy someday. Trouble is keeping them calibrated

There are two pin shafts (?) in a bolt kit, one with a rubber grommet at the bottom and one without. Which one goes up/top? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
