to the forum dudley!

The wheel bearing hub spacer(or as GM refers to it...SHIELD. Brake Flange Plate), is there to provide the proper clearance between the flange on the hub, and the steering knuckle. If you're replacing your front hubs, its important to replace the spacer in the same orientation as it was removed.

Also its important to tighten the knuckle to hub bolts to 115 N·m (85 lb ft), and axle shaft nut to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

It also supposedly deflects water, especially on the TSB affected models. That is the reason for the "comb over" I think.

What does Chief Inspector Clouseau think "gardiner" means? Isn't it spelled different in French? "Jardinier" or somethin'?

You'd have to ask Blake Edwards(dead since 2010)about the "gardiner" deal Don, you know how Clouseau mispronounced things like "minkee" for monkey.
