High Mileage Oil Filters... do your home work first!

I contacted K&N filter about their oil filter for the Chev HHR's, part number PS-7000. My questions are given below and below that their reply======
Note the PS-7000 is just an OEM type filter and NOT a heavy duty, high mileage rated, long service life or other special rated filter. It's just like the stock AC filter and other aftermarket filters. What you want is a synthetic, high flow cartridge oil filter, that provide great filtration down to 5 microns or lower and is made for high end synthetic motor oils. Shop around and when you find a great deal buy more that one... same for the oil.
PS: NOTE they say that... EACH K&N oil filter is tested to verify that they meet or surpass the requirements of the vehicle manufacturer. Just wondering what test that EACH filter get would be? Hopes this helps your HHR bucks go farther and used better. Regards, JC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please state how the oil filter PS-7000 for a 2008 Chev HHR with 2.2 is rated by miles.
Is it a high performing or high mileage filter rated at 1 year or 15,000 mile between changes? OR?
Can you give the micro rating for it... like it being rated down to filtering 3 micro (or such).
Is there any other oil filters for the car... does KN make any other/more oil filters for this application?
Thank you JC, User of your products and Researcher

From K&N Filters: Thank you for contacting Customer Service.

It seems the only oil filter we list for your 2008 Chevy HHR 2.2 is the PS-7000. Our filters are designed to meet or exceed the OEM specification. When it comes to servicing your vehicle or the mileage between your oil changes, we do recommend you to follow your vehicle's manufactures recommendations. Each K&N oil filter is tested to verify that they meet or surpass the requirements of the vehicle manufacturer. However, at this time the micron rating test information about our oil filters is not available.
If you have any additional questions about our oil filters not related to the micron test data, please feel free to reply to this e-mail or contact our customer service department at and a customer service representative will be happy to assist you.
Thank you,
K&N Customer Service & Tech Support

Go ahead and let me have it, I like their air filters, but will still stick to either AC Delco or Fram oil filters !
