SS axles+brake calipers+fuel pump

jrbarajas2008 says that the correct part number for SS axles (auto) is gm8206.

I GoOgled the number and several sources popped up.

jrbarajas2008 says he has them on his 2008 SS. I did ask him if he had installed them.

Carid says they fit G6 with the same auto trans. And Malibu with 4 speed (doesn't say auto or manual).
Rockauto says the fit most every other 4T45-e car.

I did once buy a set of off brand axles that "fit", only problem was the boots did not have the correct number of ridges and they split very quickly.

I found a really good site that goes into better detail on GM parts, & what they fit.
The "Product Fitment/Applications" section on this part seaching site shows ALL GM models that a part fits.

The Product Application Notes of the Product Assemblies section shows exactly what the part fits.
DON'T pay attention to the product description under this Product Assemblies info as it is just general/generic info...

It looks like the shaft for an auto SS doesn't fit any other car in the GM lineup.
Get them while you can, as it's very special...
SHAFT. Front Wheel Drive Axle. DRIVE SHAFT/FRONT WHEEL; SUSPENSION/FRONT made by GM. #15938134

Same deal with standard front calipers on our HHR SS
They don't fit ANY other GM cars.
CALIPER. Wheel Brake Cylinder/Caliper. BRAKE CALIPER/FRONT for Chevrolet HHR (2008 - 2010). #25894356
CALIPER. Wheel Brake Cylinder/Caliper. BRAKE CALIPER/FRONT for Chevrolet HHR (2008 - 2010). #25894355
ACDELCO = 172-2482 left & 72-2483 right
You will NEVER get the correct reman calipers, so don't even try.
There are so few of these, as the caliper piston size is special...

The in tank fuel pump is also unique & fits only HHR SS
http://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.co.../19207956.html

There are so many other one-of-a-kind unique parts that only fit our HHR SS.
When they're gone, that's it, & if you need it you're SOL

So then I shouldn't attempt taking the SS calipers apart to powder coat? I was hoping I could pop the piston and rebuild. Looks more like reuse.

And that's no Bueno on the axles. I'm guessing I'm going to need some at some point. We have no intentions on giving up our SS.

You can still get the pistons & rebuild kits.
HHR SS piston = 55mm, vs standard piston = 60mm , (may not be the exact numbers).
I use Centric parts.
front rebuild kit = 143.91016
rear rebuild kit = 143.62043
Centric front caliper piston for HHR SS = 146.54064
Centric rear caliper piston for HHR SS = 146.38038

Today I finally bit-the-bullet & ordered a spare half-shaft,
just in case, as I may need one someday, as I run with slicks at the track.
This part is on national back order, & i just hope that they will build more.
If this part does get cancelled, because GM decided that it's not worth it to build them anymore,
I can take my broken one to a good local driveshaft shop to be rebuild, it will mean 'downtime', with my 'buggy' on 'jack-stands' ,
waiting probaby a week for the repaired unit.
Been there, done that, with other car, & don't want to do that again.

They don't show automatic axles as a 'stock' item, but I'm sure that they will custom built them for anyone. I'll stick with my local 'driveshaft' shop if I need to get one rebuilt. But, if my spare OEM one that I have on order, doesn't happen if GM discontinues building these, I will seriously think about ordering one of these for a spare.
