06hhr shift problems

Hey guys ive got an 06 hhr. Under normal driving the trans wont shift from 1-2 under throttle. If i let off the gas it will change to 2nd and shifts normal after that. This happens when its cold or hot. I can put it in intermediate and it shifts exactly the way its suposed too. The trans isnt slipping or acting up any way besides this. It has 171,000 miles and prob nothing done to it.I havent checked to see if it has any codes showing yet. Anybody have any ideas?

Sounds like one of the shift solenoids has bit the dust.

That kind of thing is not shade tree fixable.

Pull the codes. If it is a shift solenoid issue, it may have stored a code that will lead you to the problem.

The reason "I" works fine is that that is basically the old "2" position, it skips 1st.

I doubt this is a result of a loose ground wire or the harness connection to the TCM
But without a code , it's just guessing.
Is there a CEL light on?
If not check the above , try a battery lobotomy, it can't hurt!
But have the codes read first!

Hi Daves06HHR, did you replace the shift solenoid, and if so what were the results, etc?
