TC "BUG" Traction turns off

I purchased my 2007 HHR 2.4 liter Auto Panel new and it's been a great Car. No issues except the front brakes (delaer replaced several times) this this Traction Control BUG

There No TC button.

The problem since New,,, GM Dealer ignored this problem.

If I'm driving up any slight of steep grade and the Trans Control detects a loss of traction the results are,,,

Traction Limited slip diffy is Disabled,
the Engine RPM is Cut to an IDLE,
the Instrument Panel LCD indicate a traction error.

Now I'm at a dead stop on an upward grade. As soon as I apply any throttle a tire loses traction "Spins" a little and I'm a a dead stop at engine idle .

I just drove a 2009 in the snow in my long driveway and this does not happen. This 2009 HHR diffy stays locked and both wheels turn, no slippage, and great.
Just like ant RWD Posi differential.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Any means to disable the TC so the Diffy always has the Posi unit engauged ?

Anyone has a wiring diagram for the TC ?

thanks,

Michael...

Just a little info. There was no factory positrac or limited slip in the regular HHR's. Only the SS with the 5 speed had a limited slip offered.

As far as what may be wrong. Just guessing, but sounds like a wheel speed sensor is not working correctly.

I'll have to check the RPO codes. Certainly conflicts with my purchase agreement sheet.

The 2009 Panel, does have a posi diffy, I haven't checked the codes, but it's to tell by driving in the snow and trying to spin the tires.

a Distinct difference in these two Panels.

Yep, I know where the rpo codes are located.

The 2009 Panel is outside, when the snow clears and the frozen rain on the car
I'll take a look...

NW9 for Traction Control, G85 for Limited Slip. You probably already knew that.

If you have no tc button, then you prob have nw7, which is what I have. It is traction control with power train management only. My panel is 08 with only 300 made this year with that option. I believe this option was chosen to eliminate problems with abs being tied to traction control.

As far as the issue you're having, I don't have a clue.

I just looked at the 2007 Owner Manual; there is no mention of a TC switch.

2007 does not have TC. It does have ETS. Read your Owner Manual pg. 246.

TC can control the brakes as well as the engine speed, ETS only controls the engine speed.

Why would you think it is a "bug" because you car is not equipped with something?

Here is an excerpt from the 2008 OM, it says basically the same as 2007. It tells how to turn it off.

That supports what Trex08 says about power train management only.

Might be a good idea to check for codes with an advanced scanner.

Codes for what? It is operating as designed. The Owner Manual tells how to turn it off, that is why no button.

ESC with TC came with 2008, to comply with an upcoming law.

From wikpedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electr...rol#Regulation
While Sweden used public awareness campaigns to promote ESC use,[64] others implemented or proposed legislation.

The Canadian province of Quebec was the first jurisdiction to implement an ESC law, making it compulsory for carriers of dangerous goods (without data recorders) in 2005.[65]
The United States was next, requiring ESC for all passenger vehicles under 10,000 pounds (4536 kg), phasing in the regulation starting with 55% of 2009 models (effective 1 September 2008), 75% of 2010 models, 95% of 2011 models, and all 2012 models.[18]

Canada[66][67] requires all new passenger vehicles to have ESC from 1 September 2011.[68]
