From the Owners Manual......for your perusal (YOUR car, YOUR choice)

Gasoline Specifications

At a minimum, gasoline should meet ASTM

specification D 4814 in the United States or

CAN/CGSB

3.5 or 3.511 in Canada. Some

gasolines contain an octane-enhancing additive called

methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT).

We recommend against the use of gasolines containing

MMT. See

Additives on page 67 for additional

information.

Not sure you are correct about Shell and the use of MMT, since all U.S. vehicle manufcaturers recommend NOT to use it.
Yep most manuals suggest against MMT use.

The V-power having MTT may be related to Canada only, I just can't get a straight answer anywhere, even the Shell site with it's detailed info on V-Power fails to state if it has any MTTs.

I guess I will just make it easy on myself and use 91.

I only use premium unleaded from Chevron, nothing else. Valero is straight ghetto gas! I used it once and my gas was sputtering and shaking when I hit the gas. Shell and 76 are similar and are second choice.

What is the mpg using E85 vs 87 octane? I'll bet that the mpg is lots lower on E85 and the cost savings isn't there in $/mile.

its only a 1 maybe 2 mpg lose which really in the end the cost makes up for it and im saving a little bit. The only reason it works is cause there is a E85 close to me and there are plenty in the part of NY that I can turn to to fill up when im out on the road.

Currently I use 87 octane from Costco in both HHR's with 2.4L and auto trans and have for some time. I like the fact that they have fast turnover and fresh product all the time. I seldom let my tank get below 1/2.
I must say I was a little cautious to begin with but have not experienced any issues at all.
Both HHR's idle very smooth. Very little hesistaion. Seem to have plenty of power.
Comming back from Oregon and passing on a 2 lane hiway I almost ran over an Audi A4 that was also passing ahead of me.
He gave me a funny look as I wizzed right by him @ 85mph.
I don't generally drive that way but after following a bunch of idiots for 10 miles along with a Logging truck pumping out black exhaust, I was pumped.
Other then Costsco gas I always preferred Chevron W/Techron.
Use nothing but Chevron 91 in my Outboard Boats.

I'm a shell guy, and put nothing but it in my corolla.

With the HHR, I've been experimenting with Petro Canada, and now i'm experimenting with Ultra 94. So far I've been getting aroud 26MPG.

I'm thinking about switching back to Shell but the rewards arent as good.
