MPG 2.4 vs 400hp Vette

Many things are factors when it comes to Milage.
- Driving Weight (vette is far lighter)
- Aerodynamics (vette vs fridge)
- Gearing (the vette may have more HP but @ the cruise RPM its not nearly seeing as much.
In a F body T-56 its supposed to be a 0.50 6th gear but if its a MN12 trans which was a GTO/Z06 trans was slightly higher but not enough it make that much of a difference.
What the HHR lacks is Aerodynamics and weight, it does make up in space so you gotta look at the pros and cons.
Some instances my heavier, larger displacement 2000 Buick Century can get as good as milage as the HHR but if I drive conservativly then the HHR will win out in the long run. Keeping the cruise RPM's below 2k is the key.

Not really
I have both and get the same mileage. Took the HHR to Maine (2500 miles) in July and got 30mpg. Took my 2007 Vette to New Mexico (1500 miles) last week and got the same 30mpg on the way down. I was running late on the way home and hit 120-130 mph a few times through Wyoming and South Dakota so the Vette mileage was down to 27.5.
Lot more room in the HHR so if the wife goes with me it is always the HHR.

Just a little more room in the HHR.

I have a 2006 Corvette Convertible 400 hp 6 soeed auto, it gets 30 hy & 26 city = avg 27.5 over all. My HHR is a 2011 2.2 that I avg 24.3 city & 31.5 hy over all avg = 27.9 Also have a 2003 SSR 300hp 4 speed auto gets 14.2 city & 21.8 hy over all = 18 mpg.

Absolute nonsense. The dash mpg info is nonsense. Try doing it the old way on paper and you'll see your 31 mpg is really about 25 which is still good. I've heard of many people making these claims but the fact is even if you are in a high gear using low rpms at highway speeds you WILL NOT get more than 25 mpg in this car. I had a 07 for 2 years and a 99 for 6 years and the best I got using the paper track method was 25. The onboard mpg info is bs as it is in all autos.
Just a little more room in the HHR.

Absolute nonsense...back at you.
Don't know if you're speaking of the HHR's OR the Vette's (because of your merging skills)but, you are absolutely incorrect. The dash MPG indicator, while it may not be absolute, it is in most instances pretty accurate....sometimes as close as .5 gallons. That's a far distance from your assertion of 25 MPG from 31. Now I've done the calculations by the Ole' 400 divided by 15 method (many, many times, in fact) and I came to ALMOST the same conclusion as the MPG dash indicator.....maybe .6 mpg difference. In Fact, on vacation trips in any vehicle, I ALWAYS confirm my MPG by longhand.
Now, if you are getting erratic readers such as you describe I would suggest something is wrong with your math skills or the instrumentation in your vehicles.
And if you are unable to attain 30 MPG in the HHR on the highway, maybe your driving skills need to be improved. Almost everyone reports 30+ MPG.
If you are providing remarks in regard to a Corvette, I can believe the 25 MPG in 99....mostly because of the current change in technology. And if it is a 2007 Corvette, I know and personally drove in rallies where that car will exceed 30 MPG on the highway.
