2006 chevy hhr evap and catalyst not ready

I have a 2006 chevy hhr 2.4l. I can not get the evap and catalyst monitors to go ready. I have replaced evap solenoid, battery, gas cap, cleaned injectors and air filter and also replaced both gaskets on the exhaust manifold so there are no leaks. I have done a smoke test and found no leaks. The pressure in fuel lines and tank are fine. I have had a tech 2 machine hooked to it and found no issues. I have tried to run multiple evap service bay tests on it and the have all timed out. I have also put about 1200 miles on it since trying to get them to go to ready and have not gotten any codes. Any help would be appreciated.

The EVAP takes about 18 cold starts to run after you clear the codes. The catalyst won't run until the EVAP does.

"Not ready" means the test has not run yet. The lesson is don't clear codes if you need an emissions test soon.

I know what not ready means and i know catalyst wont clear unless evap does. I did not clear any codes. There were no codes when i got the car. Just the evap and the catalyst monitor not ready. I was trying to see if something else coyld be wrong or im missing something. Also i have had way more than 18 cold starts.

If you replaced the battery you cleared the codes.

Im trying to tell you there were no codes, pending or otherwise when i got it. So yes it reset all the monitors to incomplete but that was when i first got it. Now i have done all the drives cycles and the cold starts and put all the miles on it. I am at the same spot as i was before i changed the battery. The evap and the catalyst monitor are not ready.

Ok, I am not a mind reader and I don't know what you know or don't know, so I am assuming you don't know anything. Evidently you know everything.

In my particular case it took over 2.5 weeks to make the EVAP run. That is because of the definition of cold start. Mileage has nothing to do with it and I have my doubts about "drive cycles" being used to trigger them, I tried many times and several different drive cycles because the widely published one is wrong and it changed from year to year.

Incomplete means it has not run, not that it failed. There are conditions that need to be met in order for it to run. Would you be insulted if I took the time to post the conditions?

I am not saying ik everything. I understand the difference between incomplete and failed. I did get a specific drive cycle for an hhr from our local chevy garage. I always ran the drive cycle after the car had set for 17hrs. I would greatly appreciate the conditions as it may be different then what i know and if it made yours run it may help me.

Check you PMs for a special gift.

I found that sometimes the P0420 runs before the EVAP.

P0442 is the last to run, but the conditions are very similar for all of p04xx.

Here is a link to the 2006 drive cycle. I don't really believe it works.

I want to thank you for that drive cycle you posted. It was just a bit different than the one i was using. I ran that drive cycle one time and the catalyst monitor went to ready. Thanks
