Congrats, looks great. Glad to see you're in another HHR and basically a new one!

The wheel lock shouldn't be a big deal. You can either buy the correct socket or get creative...I tend to lean towards the creative side. This gets me into trouble more often than not.

Mine is a 2007 with 18,000 miles that I have just under $3000 into after its all said and done.
I know this, air bags were just coming to be in cars about the time I got out of the body and fender game. Back then they were quite expensive to get. You had to pretty much get one from another junk car, dealers simply would not sell you one.

I fixed an XR7 and an Eldorado that had the air bags deployed that last year. I was able to get them really cheap because it was so hard to find airbags anywhere.

When I shortened my '90 Mustang convertible the insurance company totaled the car mainly because the air bag had popped, even though I knew it was not that bad mostly needed the front bumper replaced and the airbag of course.

Here in the glorious free state of Illinois you can not buy any car back from the insurance company if it is a '92 or older it must be sold as scrap, so folks from other states come and buy them take them home and fix them.

Seemed very silly to me but, what's a mother to do,...

I like the chrome door handles and the chrome beauty bar on the tailgate. Really helps to give some contrast.

With only 43,000 miles, this is like buying a NEW car. The engine is not even close to being broken in.

If you can, post some pictures of your interior.
The 06's had "satin" chrome on the LS and 1LT's with "bright" chrome an option and standard on the 2LT's. You really don't see a lot of the satin ones anymore.

> Well I pulled a bone head move and ran into the back of a 1999 Toyota Camry.

I traded my 1999 Toyota Camry for a silver 2009 HHR a few months ago. Seems we both have 99 Camry's in common for owning our current HHR.

Sorry about your first one, but the new HHR looks great! That black and chrome is a beautiful combination.

As for the security lug nuts, I got them on a used Miata years ago with no key socket. An old socket and some persuasion with a hammer and impact wrench got them off.

Removing the security lug nut

Seems after looking at several video's etc, and I have nuts with the external splines that I probably will get lucky finding a socket I can persuade on and get them off.

Mine look a lot like these.
