Analog Temp. Gauge vs DIC Temp. Readout
Hi Everyone -
My 2007 HHR LS achieves normal operating temperature within a minute or two of driving. The analog temperature gauge gets to the mark just below the longer halfway mark. And stays there.
At long traffic lights and in stop-and-go traffic conditions, the coolant temperature can vary as much as 15 degrees (about 190 to 205) according to the DIC. The analog gauge needle, however, shows no sign of movement.
Perhaps a mere 15 degree change will not cause the temperature gauge to respond, but I feel that the gauge needle span is wide enough so that a 15 degree change should provoke at least some movement.
Anybody else experiencing this? Engine temperature is critical information, to say the least!

I've experienced the same thing and wondered about it also. a couple of weeks ago my DIC temp was actually 218, and the needle was still at that same mark. I guess as long as it isn't overheating I'm not going to worry about it.
