Mph

Went into Canada yesterday, Speed limit sign said 100 KM looked down to gauge my speed and to my surprise my speedometer only shows mph, my question since all my other cars show both, is it a Chevy thing or only HHR's that don't show both?

Press and Hold the bottom two DIC buttons. First display is oil life, press info and the second display will say units = English, press the arrow and it will change to Metric.

If you do it while driving the needle will swing to the new reading. It's a lot better than the old large MPH numbers and the little bitty Metric numbers.

I don't remember if it's my wifes Cobalt or my 09 HHR-but-I wasn't able to get into the programming area until the car was stopped-couldn't change it while driving.

You can change from/to metric while driving. I've already made 3 trips down to the States since I purchased my HHR in May and I always change to MPH as I'm driving away from the border. However, the DIC only lets u change that...anything else and the car does need to be stopped. This was also true for my G5 (Cobalt).

The one thing that I cant wrap my brain around is Fahrenheit! I have to keep switching between metric and english to know what the temp outside is...87?...what the **** temp is that?! LOL

Oh! so you have to change the speedo. No wonder the trip from the Falls to Toronto always went so much faster!

LOL!

On my 09 HHR LS you can also change the speedo from KM to MPH while driving. Its a canadian car, I dont know if that makes any difference? All of the instrumentation in the DIC changes as well, to read Fahrenheit, mph, mpg, etc. I can change it at any speed as well.
