Factory Maintenance Schedule

Do you take your HHR in every 3,000 miles and follow the guidelines shown in this document?

I was notified that mine was due for the 15,000 check up. I've been changing the oil every 4,000 miles and rotating the tires every other oil change. But, at 15,000 they want to do an A/C check which the maintenance schedules list at $99. My A/C is working great. I don't want to pay this amount if the service is not needed.

It also states that the air filter and fuel filter need to be replaced at this time. Did you have that done?

I know it's a short warranty but I don't want to void it by missing their required service.

According to the 06 manual (page 6 - 5/6), other than the routine oil changes, the first scheduled maintenance is at 25K.

Probably that little pamphlet they give you at the dealer when you do take it in for service. You know...the one that makes them a bunch of extra money.

Yep, one of those dealer "Factory" Maintenance Schedules.

The one my dealer has developed pushes semi-annual inspections that includes "Premium Lube, Oil, and Filter change" where they use a motor oil additive. Never mind the fact that the owners manual states to not use any motor oil additives.

Go by the schedule in the owners manual. Beginning on Page 393 in the 2007 manual. A/C check is not even listed in the owners manual as something that needs checked on a regular basis. If it is blowing cold, then leave it alone.

Ah....My dealership didn't give me a personal maintenance schedule but they have a big laminated one on the counter. They point out services I'm going to decline whenever I'm in there.

I don't think my dealer's maintenance department likes us very much, we only go there when it's free, I have a mechanic I TRUST do anything else.

I guess my dealership isn't too bad when it comes to oil and maintenace. Both the salesman and the service dept manager told me to follow the manual and not bring it in for oil changes until the OLM said to. They did give me a maintenance schedule which was the same as in the manual.

My father just bought a Suburban. His salesman outright told him if he changed oil more often than the OLM said, he was throwing his money away. While he used to always have oil changed at 5000km (aprox 3000 miles) he will be following the OLM now. So you can teach an old dog new tricks.
