Well, another high mileage thread. I say another, only second I've seen actually.
The other specified over 100k so I posted there, and now I have to post here.
My 2007 bought in 2010 now has on July 14, 2014, mileage of: 555732.
It's a work car, so miles add up fast.
As far as oil, synthetic blend every 5k.
Flush all other fluids every 50k
Regards
David Hanna

139K and smiling

Mine is a LS 2007 which I have owned for two years.

It is great and I would buy one again without a doubt.

IT has passed a safety in Ontario in 2012 and another in BC 2013. Just had to have the rotors machined and next year I will do the brakes. An engine light came on after I had an oil change, and they did another change and added something to the lines and it solved the problem.

My back door stopped staying open, but that was a $200 fix.

I met a woman in Brantford Ontario and she had just under 200K.

I would if it was a panel! I need one to drive every day and one to torture regularly.

Thumbs up

We just passed 35,000 miles on ours and we've had it for 9 Years as of the 15th of last Month! No plans to but anything else at that rate. Just a rash of recent problems though. First the Steering Motor went out, then the hassle with the Ignition Switch replacement. and finally the alternator had to be replaced about 2 weeks ago! Hope that's all for a good while. Luckily I had an extended warranty thru AAA and there was only a $100 copay each on the PSM and the Alternator.

High milage HHR 2006

Best car ever owned regular oil changes since day 1. Replaced usual things breaks rotors front and rear struts. Rear coil springs. Tires of course and finally a new computer...we only have 357,768 kilometers on :-) the car. Does not use any oil. We just bought a 2014 diesel Cruise and we hope it performs as well.

'08 optionless LS stick bought new now 70k. Original tires, rotors, pads, clutch, battery, headlights, exhaust, struts, etc. Three issues while under 3yr/36k warranty nothing since. Around 20k passenger side front bearing assy got noisy and failed, under 30k ignition module wouldn't recognize key so replaced by dealer, 25k(?) top 'chrome' half of stickshift knob snapped off so the whole stick was replaced. No rattles or suspension noises, braking remains smooth (I use stick engine braking, wife doesn't.) So far so good or pretty good compared to a lot of sorry HHR stories one sees out there regarding various issues especially the weak areas that seem common with this vehicle. Car sits outside/no garage/harsh marine climate on rainy OR coast. Regular wash/wax has kept appearance ok, no running boards, has mudflaps that reduced rear fender chipping, no accidents. Gas mileage seems to keep creeping up from under 30mpg new to then 30/32 or so city/hwy now 34 or 35 hwy according to instant readout on a flat with no wind, over 30 town driving through a whole tank.

I would consider it if it was a good price and the oil had been changed like it was a religious duty. I don't drive mine as much now and I change the oil whenever it hits 50% on the OLM. I changed to synth blend at 30k.

I've owned a number of cars over 100k and regular oil changes gave me engines that did not use oil.

By the end of the week, our no options 2008 HHR will have 152,000 miles on it. Other than a cylinder head change at around 80k miles there have been no repairs required other than normal maintenance. (oil changes, wiper blades, front brakes, headlight bulbs, tires, etc)
We have been looking at new vehicles and decided there isn't anything out there we like better than what we have so are going to keep the HHR for now. We do travel out of state frequently and are concerned that with the high miles the chances of a breakdown increase but the car has proven to be reliable so far. We purchased it new. The only time it has been to the dealer was for warranty repairs. I do all the servicing myself.
