How much does your HHR weigh?
Does anyone know how much their HHR weighs? My '09 panel SS weighs 2700 pounds, curb weight. At least that is what the Washington, DC title said. I think the Panel weighs less because there are no seats in them.
Michigan titles no longer have the weight listed on them but some other states do.
Up until the early 1980s our license plate fees went by weight. The heavier the car the more the plates cost. In the '80s the fee would be based on the price of the new car the first year and the book value of the car in years subsequent. Our plates went from $10 to $150 in the space of a few years.

Your HHR weighs more than 2700 lbs. As OB stated, check your door sticker for the weight of your particular model.
My 2010 SS shows a GVWR of 4280 lbs. That means the curb weight should be right around 3200 lbs.

According to the weigh slip from the Pilot Travel Center's "DITY" scale at Exit #63 on I-85S, Paddy the fully optioned '07 LS weighs 3,223 pounds with a full tank of gas, minus passengers.
The GVWR is 4,240 pounds per the door tag.
NC classes HHR's as "SUV/Light Truck" for registration purposes.

Why the difference between the GVWR and actual weight?
Back in the day, in Michigan, sometimes we had to get our car weighed in order to get new plates. I can't remember the reason for that.

So doing math with the numbers presented the HHR is a 1/2 ton (1,000 lb) truck.
GVWR (4240) - EW (3200) = ~ load (1000 lb).
I suspect that 16 gallons of gas is close to the other 23 lb.

donbrew....
a gallon of gasoline weights 6 pounds, so it would be 96 pounds. But for purposes here, you're close enough.
Oh, I also believe that GVWR is computed with a half tank of gas .....seem to remember seeing that some place.

That 3,223 pound weight also reflects the lightweight alloy rims fitted instead of the OEM 16 hole "Steelies".
The MB Wheels "Drifter" 16" x 7" rims fitted to Paddington weigh 12.8 pounds each, totalling up to 51.2 pounds.
The OEM steel LS Rims weigh 22 pounds each, or 88 pounds in total.
So there's a net curb weight loss of approximately 35.9 pounds.
And that loss of unsprung weight is noticeable both in ride quality and acceleration off the line.
