Question My 2010 Chevy HHR vs Chevy Equinox

Hey all been a while since I posted but after a major list of repairs my dealership printed out a 4 page report of repair estimate totaling over $2K when I was in there for a simple Oil Change back on November 28th, 2015. I started looking and researching online the Chevy Equinox and I was wanting to know your thoughts on the 2012 on up Chevy Equinox AWD and FWD with either the 2.4L and the 3.6L (I think that's the V6?)

First off.. Find a new dealer unless you already knew about the "2k" of work "needed" to the car.
I've had 2 2009 HHRs for 3 and 5 years respectively and not including buying Snow tires and routine maintenance I'd be surprised if there has been $900 bucks worth of "needed" work between the two of them. I've put 130k km and 110k km on them.

Charvel,

Hope you don't end up doing what I have done since 2012.
Bought a New 2011 2LT in Late 2011. Put 20,000 miles on it and thought I needed more towing capacity.
Traded the HHR and Bought a Band New Subaru Forester. Added 1000lbs of capacity.
After 10,000 miles I found out it sucked compared to the HHR but I still had the tow capacity issue so I bought a Brand new Ford Escape.
Seemed OK until I owned it and drove it for a while and then I realized it too was a Piece Of Crap. Lots of power but in the shop 6 times in less then a year and 2 of the problems they could not seem to fix.
Computer related. They even had the factory techs working on it with no satisfactory results so I gave up on the towing issue and bought a nice used Local HHR. It was not exactly what I wanted but longed for the fun of driving one again and it worked out just fine as I continued looking for a better fit.
It felt so good to get back in the HHR and enjoying the fun of driving it.
Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone !!
I am currently the owner of 3 HHR's all with 23,000 miles on them.
2 - 2011's and a 2010.
This last one I bought makes it the 11th one I have owned. All 2010 and 2011 models.

I have had to re-think my towing abilities and am going to settle for a Nice New Alumacraft 14ft. open boat with 25hp and 8hp 2 stroke Johnson motors.
Gross weight 850 lbs.

Good Luck with the Equinox search.

Amen, I've spoken to several who have sold their HHR's and now want me to find them a nice used HHR to replace the one they traded or sold!

There are still some low mileage ones out there but they are getting scarce.
When you do find one it usually does not have the correct equipment on it or is the wrong model.
My last one is in route coming from Texas this week as we speak.

2011 2LT Cyber Grey, Ebony interior, 2.4L w/Auto.
Factory Running boards
Spare tire, Non Smoker.
Mint Condition, 23,000 miles.
Clean Auto Check report.
All recalls done. Just key lock and ignition switch issues.
Still has 100,000 mile powertrain warranty till middle of June 2016.

Rare Find these days.

Question Alternatives To 2010 Chevy HHR

So my 2010 Chevy HHR LS has over 130,000 miles and paid off for a while and I have been searching for other people's opinions on the competition and haven't found much. I know the HHR has about 62 cubic feet of cargo room so I'm looking at SUV's that have about the same or more cargo room. I'm also a guitarist in a band and have used my HHR to haul around mine and other band mates guitars, amps, PA equipment, etc. to and from shows. I'm looking at new SUV's as I've been thinking of doing a short term lease and still keeping my HHR as backup/spare vehicle and price-wise under $25k. Has to be reliable, have good power/acceleration, good sounding stereo with Bluetooth, Android auto, hands free calling, smooth ride due to equipment being hauled and good gas mileage, No Diesels! I live in Ohio so I've been debating if I would need AWD or not and don't know if there are any 2018 model year's that would still qualify for a lease? Here are 10 SUV's I've been researching so far:
2019 Chevy Equinox
2019 Buick Encore
2019 Honda HR-V
2019 Honda CR-V
2019 Toyota CH-R
2019 Toyota RAV4
2019 Volkswagen Tiguan
2019 Ford Escape SE
2019 Jeep Compass
2019 Jeep Cherokee

Your thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated!!

The spouse just purchased a 2018 GMC Terrain SLE , 1.5 turbo with a 9 speed transmission.
It has an estimated mileage figure better then the HHR.
Trust me , she had it researched throughly, she looked at
Toyota Highlander, Jeep Cherokee, Hyundai Stanta Fe, and Tucson, Ford Edge and Flex.
the Equinox was ok but the Terrain seems to have more head room, which is good cause she got the huge panoramic sunroof!

itll be delivered in Wednesday night , so pictures are coming

Be interested in seeing the GMC Terrain SLE. I really like their rugged looks.

Charvel1975- This might be one to add to your list.
