new member, hhr panel/passenger hybrid question.

Hello all, I have finally purchased my first hhr after looking for a while, its a 2008 2.2 automatic version. I love the utility aspect with good cargo/people space and good mileage. I have been looking for info on my particular model and have found almost nothing. It has the rear body of the panel with standard passenger rear doors and seats. I found a review of the panel online from late 2007 and the author mentioned that gm planned on building such a beast. I was wondering what it is called, is there an rpo code for it, or was this an aftermarket deal, there is an illegible modification sticker in the drivers side jamb. How many of these are out there? What years were they available? If not factory, eho was building them? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and hello to all.

to the forums, dude!! Sounds like you have RPO AA5, the half panel. Your RPO list will be on the inside of the passenger glovebox door. You can decode it here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gene...options-12674/

Type AA5 into the search window at the top of the page, you'll find a plethora of information. A rare bird and a great look. Privacy of a panel van, but passengers in the back seats can see out, best of both worlds!!

Welcome to the site.

The link link below shows some production numbers from 2009. (I just did a quick search and didn't see the 2008 numbers )

There are a couple posts in that thread with info.
Looks like 4% of the LS's were AA5 optioned or about 1100 produced.
And the LT's show 1.3 % AA5 optioned or about 574 produced.
Depending on the model you have, either one would be quite rare.

Now. Not trying to "burst any bubbles" so to speak but a few folks have put regular doors/rear seats on their panel HHR's. It would then look like an AA5 version. Maybe you bought a previously owner converted car ?
The AA5 option listed on the glovebox sticker would tell if it's factory equipped. If that option isn't listed then it's most likely a previous owner conversion.

I have the hhr up on the hoist now, but I have the original window sticker and found "solid rear quarter panel. $195.00" so I'm guessing it's an aa5 ls. Now I wonder how many they made in 08. What's the easiest way to post pictures?
Thank you.

The half panels are really cool, although I still like the full panel better...my models sometimes use the back seat in mine as a dressing room when we shoot on location and it's very private.

I'd love to find a Victory Red Half Panel to get as a daily driver...the full panels have a lot of blind spots in my opinion.
