New vehicle break-in

My owner's manual ('07 LS) states, "Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or slow, for the first 500 miles". Has anyone actually followed this?

I did, more or less. It's the way I drive and the routes I take.

I did as well, simply due to city & suburban driving.

More or less. It is pretty hard to drive anywhere at a constant speed for a proloned period. It certainly will not happen in the city and even on the highway, unless you really lucky, some dopw will be moping in the fast lanes so you gotta slow down!

Basically normal driving will fit the bill.

I drove it like I always drive when I first purchased my HHR. I don't believe in breaking in a vehicle other than the brakes.

I can drive on the highway here (during the middle of the day) for a good half hour without the need to change speed. You think that would be too long at a constant speed? Just paranoid as this is the first new car I've owned. All my past cars were purchased used.

Should not be a problem unless you are going 1000 miles per hour.
