I too, dislike the p/w switches, the bicep-pinching door lock knobs, the in-the-way armrests, the chinsy cup holders...

But my #1 thing is the poor interior lighting in it. I have the sunroof, so maybe that's an issue. I can't see s5#% in it at night. The map lights suck, as they point towards the front top of the dash. An overhead dome light would have cost what, $4 to install on the line? I would have gladly paid $8 for it!

I'd say the lack of mods, but then again they are becoming available now. Now I just don't like that I don't have the money for them!

In all honesty I would have liked an AWD version of the SS.

The one thing I hate about my HHR is the lack of good possition for gun rack
seariously though I hate the cost of some of the mods.

Hm.....can't seem to find anything wrong that irks me....I believe thats why I bought it... But then, its an SS!! And if I do find something I don't like..well then I'll just mod it to my liking.

for me, there's more than 1 thing...but the ONE thing I would change...

telescopic steering column.

I am only 6'00" but to reach the steering wheel, my legs have to be bent so much, the side of my legs rest on the console/door panel, which makes me very uncomfortable during long drives.

of course, my last 2 cars were 1)Lincoln 2) Mercury...two of the MOST comfortable cars I had every owned.

visibility doesnt bother me in the HHR
but since I spend on average 2 1/2 hours a day behind the wheel, my driving posture makes for a very sore ride.

what else would I change?
softer cloth for cloth seats
more supple seat cushions
better cup holders/location of cup holders

all are petty things, all driver-related. Since I am the only one in my car most of the time, I can deal with it.

The thing that bugs me the most is the lack of thought in some of the details in the HHR.Yes,like the poorly placed cup holders, lock knobs(for some people), and window controls but also the silly inclusion of an automatic dimming inside mirror on vehicle with a deep tint windows.Or no way to kill off the DRLs without darkening the dash lights.Or the overly involved process just to change the air filter.Or not being able to open the door with the key without setting off the alarm.Or.....well,you get the idea.
