Power at the mirror

Is there an online place that I can get the color code for the wires on the jack at the mirror? Or other power source up in that area? I want to hang my radar detector just above the mirror and have it permanently wired into a circuit that is alive only when the key is on. It's not even a 2 amp fuse so the load will only be about an amp, if that.

use the SEARCH feature and type in "radar detector" and tick the show posts then click GO. Someone picked up power at the overhead light, but I think I saw someplace where someone did get power from the mirror. good luck

found this pic. by Lee3333 you could pm him and maybe he could help you. https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/sho...c=3&userid=324

The power circuit for the mirror isn't a keyed circuit because of the lights, I think. Also, is the radar detector rated for 12v or does it need the cig adaptor to divide down the proper voltage?

It is 12v, I had it wired into my fuse box on my old pickup truck with an in line fuse, just didn't want to start tearing things apart to get a wire down to the console.

Does that overhead light/mic/power roof switch plastic console just pop off? Looks like the guy in the picture had to put extra screws to hold it back on.

Maybe I should get one of those behind the grille Lazer jammers and remote radar detector. :)

This applies to those with the sun roof. Don't know if you have that on your 2LT think someone said if you don't have the sunroof then you actually have to drop the roof liner some how to get to it.

Thanks guys, Lee3333 answered my question, looks like I may want to snake all the way back to the fuse box. I am going to test for power up there when the key is on (and 10 minutes after it is off) and what size fuse is on that device will be the final deciding factor. I just hate to rip into things if I can first ask someone who has done it already what to expect.
