2008 chevy hhr panel, traction control

Where is the traction control button to turn it off? The manual says release the ECS/TCS button located on the instrument panel??

I got this from the 2010 Owners Manual. It may apply to your 2008 since a lot of the info will cross over between different year models.

Enhanced Traction System (ETS)
The vehicle may have an Enhanced Traction System
(ETS) that limits wheel spin. This is especially useful in
slippery road conditions. The system operates only if
it senses that one or both of the front wheels are
spinning or beginning to lose traction. When this
happens, the system reduces engine power and may
also upshift the transmission to limit wheel spin.
If the vehicle has ETS, there is not an ESC/TCS button
on the instrument panel.
To turn the system off, shift
to L (Low) or R (Reverse).

And,,, Welcome to the site.

to the forum!

If your vehicle is equipped with the Traction Control system, the button is directly to the right of the interior lighting dimmer switch.

It looks like the back end of an HHR with a pair of squiggly lines underneath it.

Also if you do not have abs then you don't have traction control.

Thanks,

Oh brother, it turns out there is no button on my dash, but there is definitely something that prevents me from spinning when I need too. Love my new purchase but not being able to turn this system off is like having a car with brakes but no gas pedal. Bummer looks like snow tires will be mandatory.

You missed one 843de. I moved the thread out of the "how to" forum.
