Well, considering off the floor they are slower than a vette in the 1/4, then people dump another 20-30k into a bike that already cost them 20k to make it actually fast, so no, i do not consider a harley to be fast by any streach of the term. Their new v-rod based production dragster is a gimmic, if you count that then you might as well count the big 4's superbikes because just as many are produced, and at over 35,000 bucks, you could really make a triumph rocketIII haul since the new turbo kit for it is around 5,000, and puts over 200 ftlbs of torque to the tire.
for around 12k, you can get a bike that will run circles around any harley from the following companies:
honda
kawasaki
suzuki
yamaha
triumph
KTM
for the price of a cheap harley you can add
ducati
aprillia
mv
bmw
And finally, for the price of a full dressed harley, you can have bikes that blow the doors off 99% of the motoring world, including exotic cars.
So, do i judge a book by its cover, no, because if you put a slow piece of crap in shiney chrome wraper, it is still a slow piece of crap.
Anyhoo, Back on topic
Why not do a theme no one has done?

I agree that since the Harley theme has been done, I would do something else.
But, if you think about it, there are some similarities....
Harley's (most of them) are based on a classic style (40's-50'), so is the HHR (49' Suburban).
Harley's are primarily a cruiser style bike, I see HHR's as more of a cruiser.
The average HHR costs close to 20K, Harleys are in the same price range.
It is not a bad thought. Too bad that it has been done before.
I do think the Al Capone theme would be cool for a Black HHR!!!!
How about an American Graffitti theme (that may be too corny)??

Or, Maybe a Coors Silver Bullet delivery truck. Make it a two door panel truck with an automatic hatch that would open and deliever ice cold beer kegs to parties.....
I think that would work for Silverstone colored HHRs....
