Having done some work on cars in my younger years I have nothing but admiration for people who can do things like this and maintain this level of detail so please don't think I'm trying to be negative when I ask why you didn't paint the underside before bolting all these beautifully crafted parts in place.

I will be doing some touch up painting on the underside of the car
after all the sheet metal and welding is done. I will be keeping the underside the original base coat gray color. I like the contrast of the powder coat black against the gray.

3.08 gears in the rear? I'm sure you did your homework to come up with that ratio. Without doing any calculations, I would have figured it to be in the
3.50ish range. Guess I would have lost that bet.

And THANKS again for posting up all the updates on your project. It is fun to follow this and see it all take shape in your photos.

3.08 is for the auto trans. The lower gear ratios are for the stick trans.

I swapped out my 3:03's to 3:43's on my old 88 pick-up with a 355 SBC backed by a 700R4 big mistake, the fuel mileage was down the stop light drags were better but the rev's at 65 mph was 2,450 rpm as opposed to 1,800 rpm with the 3:03's, so I think 3:08's are the correct choice for this build!

It's not a real SS

I hope nobody minds me putting SS seats in the V8 Panel. It's not really an SS. I got these seats and matching SS door panels from djPhil, one of the members on this forum. I think they look good and will blend in with the overall look I'm going for.

Really liking that "meat" look of the rear tires.

Lasater

Anybody who can build a car like you can, can use any SS parts you want.
I won't be offended.
