Just brought home a 2008 panel after over 6 months looking:

in the next photo : just what is this round knob thing ???

Yup, onstar mic. Since you just got the vehicle you could try and get 3 months free trial.
And that light pointed out in pic should only go on with the headlights.

thanks gang: onstar mic makes sense, the manual didn't show anything like this, and I bet that light goes off in the daytime

the joke here is that I stated "it stays on all the time, but Ive only seen it on at night cause you couldnt really tell if it on in the daytime duh !!!!!!
