There are two of them and I'm not sure which one the fuse for the lighter is in. One is under the hood and you can see where that is here. The other one is behind a panel on the front passenger side of the center console. Just pull the panel off carefully and I would venture to guess that the fuse for the lighter would be in there.

Here is the owner's manual: https://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2cont...et/2006hhr.pdf

Fuse #29 under the hood for the lighter. There's also a fuse panel on the passenger side of your center console, all the way forward, just pull it out if you need access.

The owner's manual has great diagrams of both panels. I find that the manual has helped me more than once, although CourthouseDeb explained to me where the interior dimmer switch was. (Right on the console in front of me)

does the fuse box on the passenger side have the word fuse on it. I check for it but didn't see it . And didn't want to just start trying to pull around the plastic on random panels

No it doesn't, but it runs along the floor right next to the center console. Don't worry...you won't hurt it. It pulls right out.
