heat shield cgs intake??

Was thinking of ordering a cgs intake and have seen all the talk about stock versus this and that but was wondering if there was ever a heat shield made to order for the cgs intake? Or were to find it cheapest or some trick to block out the back end heat? Or any other better intake that has been developed not really sold on the k&n airaid or gm one. Thanks anyhelpful input is appreciated.

the CGS takes in allot of engine heat and in the summer there is a definate loss of power
i basicall built a heat shielded air box around it w the air from the side hole normally used to push air into the box
worked pretty well but was still never close to outside air temp
the CGS is NOT a very efficient intake
sound and look great
the numbers dont match unless you live in a colder than average climate which you kind of do
but summers do get warm even there

From what I've seen of that intake, it falls under the catagory of "Warm Air Intake".

As CJ pointed out, unless you do a bunch of fab work to pull air in from the stock location, you'll be sacrificing power with a warmer than normal intake charge.

Engines like cool dense air, and the stock airbox or GMPP intake setups really are efficient at getting a cool intake charge into the engine.

There is a silver insulated wrap about 2 inches wide you can get at Lowes. It will insulate it well. But like others said, without the wrap. the CGS probably loses a couple horses in the summer. But in the winter it performs well.

I've had the CGS intake for three years and I found exactly what other forum members described: no gain in HP but 1-2 MPG gain. I've not noticed any difference in power during the seasons. I've got the 2.2L ~140HP.

the big issue is where it is getting its air from in the engine compartment
not the pipe itself
you need to have the filter inside the wheel well or behind the headlight on the passenger side and use a flex hose run to the filter
long intakes tend to do better anyway
