Merged threads. I don't see a need for multiple threads on a subject.

Air Bag Fretting Corrosion Recall

I went to the Dealer and have an appointment for the AirBag connection recall. They said it would probably take 2 hours. Guess we will see how it goes. They are going to do the 50k mile service at the same time. Not much to that, or so I understand, just look things over while they change the oil and rotate the tires.

I just had the exact same service done a few weeks ago, 50k and all. I was there for 4 hours. They replaced the harness, but the airbag light went on, so they re-soldered a connector I was told.

Just dropped my HHR off at one of the Chevy Dealers in Baton Rouge for the 'air bag' recall and the 50,000 mile check +oil change and tire rotation. Supposed to be back to pick me up in 3-4 hours according to the Service Writer. This should catch me up on all the recalls to date. I thought they were going to work on the air bag connection in the steering column but the Service Writer told me the connection to be worked on is under the front seat. I guess these car companies copy a lot from each other as the airbag/restraint controller in dodge trucks is also under the front seat.

Well, the SDM is actually under the console near the gear shifter. As I understand, the connector involved in the recall is under the passenger side kick panel.

Merging this with the other thread.
