This is a big deal all over TV and Radio here. Heard at 5 different places in last 2 days.

Personally don't think it is a big deal, lighten your key ring until you get yours fixed, and learn how to restart your car in neutral you will be fine.

But moving posts and demanding new people to use search, You re all going to go crazy before this one blows over. It will be fun to watch.

Corvair GUY

I have a 2006 HHR with only 20,000 miles and I've noticed that the Ignition Switch Key kind of glides from Run to ACC. as if it's spring loaded. when I turn the key to off... I'm glade Chevy stepped up to replace the ignition SW.

Good point! Yes turning the key to the "Run" or ON position activates the Air Bag system!!! I hope no one has to test this condition when their Key slips into the ACC. position by mistake...

HHR ignition switch problem

Could this be associated with the remote start function? If you don't turn the car off and restart the vehicle locks you out.

Thanks. I hope I remember to do that if I ever need it.

HUH? Please elaborate.

I don't think you have to actually turn it off then restart. IIRC you just have to insert the key and turn it to run, that turns the ant-theft off. It's been a while since I had RS, I may remember wrong.

Thanks for adding the text to my first reply...got busy and forgot to ad it. Obviously, everyone's seen it by now (hence all the merging!) Thanks to the mods/admins. Will be looking for the recall notice in April. Haven't had this issue with min (knocks on head) but I only ride with the key, fob and mini piston key chain, so not much weight there.

Good luck to everyone!

No connection to the remote start system.

From everything I've read, and from talking to the GM Zone Manager, it's a case of a design flaw that can be exacerbated by excessive weight on the keychain.

The important thing is to avoid panicking over the sensational news stories, and to keep nothing more than the key and key fob on your vehicle's keychain.

And, exactly why Moderators of all GM forums are getting crazy. Every body calm down and at least read the entire bulletin, not just the headline.
