GM recall question
Just got back my 2007 HHR and my 2010 SS for the ignition recall. By chance I tried my spare sets of keys for both cars and was startled to find that each key works in the ignition. (the original set and the new keys). Does this sound correct?

The new keys will have a small hole where the key ring attaches. Many of the older keys had a large slot for the key ring hole. GM thinks that the large slot may have contributed to the shutting off issues.
The recall is not changing your present key configuration. Only giving everyone new keys with the small hole. I'm surprised that they didn't ask for all your old keys to be turned in when doing the recall work.
Fwiw. My 2010 keys already have the small hole but I'll still get new keys when I get the recall work done.

Many moons ago now, the keys to my Beretta GT worked in my Uncle's Camaro, and vice versa. Add a couple of beers to a boring Saturday night, and you discover things like this in a small mill town.
There are only so many combinations, and every once and again you'll find two vehicles keyed alike. But the PassKey anti-theft system on the HHR's would prevent the possibility of a "keyed alike" key starting anything but the HHR it is meant for.
