That is very interesting...I haven't seen that letter yet. I have seen the letter for the Malibu's and G6's and I don't recall them having the same wording.

A big thanks to MK Smith Chevrolet 12845 Central Ave. Chino, CA 91710 for completing this GM warranty replacement of the power steering motor in one hour. Free WiFi, coffee, comfortable waiting room. Another thanks to Chevrolet Care (here on the forum) folks who helped expedite this. A reference was made to special coverage 14119 and they also helped me make a quick appointment.

Steering motor

Had the power steering motor replaced under warranty and now the turn signals don't always shut off, could they do something to cause this?

Not likely but do call in to the dealership and advise them this problem has cropped up since they worked on it. Search turn signals for a thread or two about this new issue

I got a bunch of "extended warranty" letters from GM before the ignition switch became a "recall".

I haven't gotten anything from GM on the EPS yet, but I see it's probably only a matter of time. Don posted the link to the campaign reference.

Here's text of just the bulletins:

MAR 31, 2014
NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V153000
Component(s): STEERING
Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,360,895
. . . . . . . .

Bulletin 14115 covers model year 2004-2007 Saturn Ion, 2009-2010 Chevrolet HHR and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalts. Dealers will replace the EPS motor.

Bulletin 14116 covers model year 2004-2006 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, 2005-2006 Pontiac G6 and 2008-2009 Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura built from March 1, 2008, through June 27, 2008. Dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly.

Bulletin 14117 covers model year 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura built from February 1, 2008, through February 28, 2008. Dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly and EPS motor controller unit.

Bulletin 14118 covers model year 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura built from October 1, 2007, through January 31, 2008. Dealers will replace the EPS motor controller unit.

The recall began on July 17, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, and Pontiac at 1-800-620-7668. GM's number for this recall is N140115.

Note: GM bulletin number 14119 will be implemented for model year 2006-2008 and early production of 2009 Chevrolet HHR (non-turbo) and model year 2003 Saturn ION to provide EPS Motor replacement for the life of the vehicle.
. . . . . . .
Looks like I might be covered for the life of the vehicle, rather than just 10yrs./120k. I'll believe it when I see it in writing.

Sounds like a "maybe possible" that when they did it, or fixed something on the column inside the cabin, that maybe it wasn't 100% returned to how it was...

P/s problem

My power steering went out while driving. The bell rang and the d.i.c. lit up, but still no advance warning. I called the dealer to see if they had the part and they did for $106. while I found it on line at GM parts direct for $60. I called the dealer back to cancel the order and the parts guy told me that this might be covered under a program as he has been passing them out a lot lately. He suggested I call the service department and talk to them. I gave them my vin and got a flat out NO its not covered. I called Chevy customer service and talked to one of CSR here on the web site and was told it was covered and she gave me the special coverage number. I called the dealer back got a different service writer and asked him if my car was covered. Again I got the NO! So I told him funny I just talked to GM/ Chevy and they said I was and gave him the program number. Suddenly his whole pattern changed to ,Well you might be covered, bring the car in and we will see! I have it scheduled for tomorrow!
