inside handles

just wondering if all HHRs doors are the same as mine, when i have the doors locked if you pull the door handle it wont unlock it, you have to press the unlock button. its kinda annoying and now that i have the smotthie doors locks if im ever in the car and the battery dies ill be stuck inside cuz of the power locks and power windows.

That's the way mine is . . . kinda a pita, when the doors lock by them selves, but do not unlock unless you turn the HHR off . . .

I can unlock mine when the car on. It is just that they are automatic lock when you take out of park.

You can use the button the door that unlocks/locks all the doors. If the battery dies and you are inside lay the back of the set all the back get to the back set and pull on the rear door lock to get out.

That wont work if your battery goes dead while driving and the doors are locked.

I had the same concern on my sons HHR when I added the smoothies to the front doors. I did not trim the lock rods, so they do stick up a little above the door panel. It took me a few trys but I was able to pull up on them to unlock the door but he couldn't get a good enough grip on them.

So I gave him an old pair of pliers to keep in his glove box in case he ever got locked in with a dead battery.

missed the dead battery part...
I guess you need to plan ahead and unlock before you shut it off......
