SS value

When I bought my 2007 2LT about a year ago, SS prices were holding relatively well. I didn't consider an SS because I wasn't budgeted for $15K. I had $10k limit (for a second car) and paid 9. The SS's resale value seems to be dropping disproportionately lately, particularly the 2008. I saw a high-mileage one on autotrader.com for under $10K! I prefer its stiffer suspension, repositioned shifter, rear disks...but the turbo being rare, subject to fairly frequent problems, and the slow availability and high cost of parts for it scares me. I dread what would happen after the power train warranty expires. The nice thing about non-SS HHRs is that all the parts are pretty common.

Correction: The 2008 SS on autotrader.com is now at $8995, black manual with sunroof and LSD, new sway bar links and bushings, VIN link http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=...A73X78S719169+ with 98,708 miles. So, if you want to risk what happens with turbo repairs after the power train warranty expires, here is your chance. It's in West Chicaco, IL nowhere near me in Louisiana.

12,000 I could deal with. Now I just have to get the stupid thing running well enough that I can trade it in.

I can tell you an 08 SS with 15k miles will fetch $14-$15k in Ontario. Unfortunately they were nearly $30k brand new.

Wow.....they are certainly holding better than that in the Atlanta market. Had a wild hair to get a crew cab truck a few months ago and got trade offers of $13k and $13.5K at the 2 Dodge dealerships I visited. Mine's an 08 with around 46,000 miles at the time, 5-speed, and only option is the LSD diff. Given about $800 of that was pro-rated GMPP warranty and I also have a really nice stereo in it, and I haggled with them some to get part of the GM Stage upgrade included in price, but I was ticked at even the $13.5 offer. I put it on Craigslist for a short time for something like $17k and had an overwhelming amount of response. Decided I like it too much to get rid of it and bought a beater truck.

We may get higher trade in value here, but the stickers are sometimes 25% higher than in the U.S. Alot of my buddies have been buying their new cars in Michigan and keep it for 4-5 years and trade it in here. They get the original price for less and more come trade in or resale time. Helps mitigate the loss of buying a new car.

I traded it in for 12,250 today. Not a bad deal since I only paid 16000 for it.
Got a mini to prepare for the 5 dollar gas. lol
